As usual I suggest Ultraman Tiga (un wacky dubbed of course) and Ultraman Nexus. Before you watch Nexus though check out the movie Ultraman The Next.

While the original Ultraman series is great, for someone new to Ultraman I would recommend Ultraman Nexus, Ultraseven X (get this from TV-Nihon, since the HK subs stink), Mebius or Tiga. Of these, Nexus is the best, so give it a shot--it's sort of like UltrasevenX's spiritual precursor. Hope you enjoy!

That's why I usually suggest Tiga first as kind of a middle-ground between classic style and modern approach.

Please no one take any offense at this(I know how fans get since I am one), but Nexus is not a real look at what Ultraman is through the years. All the Men in black stuff, hidden battles, and other things just don't ring true to what UM has been and will be. I would strongly say not to watch it, nor U7X as a first time into Ultraman.

If you havent seen ANY Ultraman at all, I would suggest downloading the Ultraman Nexus subs and whatever other sub you can find out there. Nexus was a damn good Ultra series and its easy to find/acquire. I think it might even be on Veoh

Have it subbed doesn't make the viewing of it any more enjoyable. I'll just add my last two cents and people can take it as they wish. Nexus and U7X are not good representations of what Ultraman has been throughout it's history.

I'll tell you right now just listing titles to series, to me, does next to nothing. But your heart was in the right place. So I aint mad. Anywho, I'm going to start with Ultra Seven X because, well I don't know why other than I played "Eeny Meeny Miney Moe" on TV-N's torrent tracker.

I might give that group Fushigi-Chan some love and dl a few Moebius eps.

My heart is always in the right place.

If you want a dark series then go for Ultraman Nexus.
If you want an epic and dramatic series then go for Ultraman Mebius.

Those are the top 2.
