'Design A Ranger' from the Mutekiba Sentai

AniBlack

Mutekiba Sentai
Hello all!

This is my first post, so allow me to introduce myself. I'm AniBlack, or Adam, if you'd like my real name. I'm the "leader" of the Mutekiba Sentai Aniranger - a fan series inspired by the twin awesomeness of Power Rangers and Super Sentai. I'll get to explaining all that another time, I guess.

What I'd like to shout about first is a little competition I'm running. :) We Anirangers want to be a friendly, inclusive group. I love nothing better than getting questions from fans and giving advice or sharing inspiration. To this end, I decided to ask for submissions from the fans and the Ranger community in general.

We want YOU to design a new member of the Aniranger team! The winning entry will be made into a real suit and used in a future episode.

You don't have to be a great artist, you just need an idea. Either post images in this thread, or over on the Mutekiba Homepage.

I'd love to see what you can all come up with! You will probably want to watch a few minutes of our episode to see what we look like - I've cut straight to the morph for you. (I suppose it's worth pointing out this is a trimmed, Japanese dubbed version of Episode One)

There are just a couple rules:

- Designs must be your own
- The design must fit in with the rest of the team
- No obvious tributes or homages to existing Rangers
- No 'super mode', 'sixth ranger', or battlizers

I look forward to seeing your ideas! I look forward to making new friends, too. We all have a common passion, and I think it's a wonderful thing that we can all communicate together to share it!

Keep the faith,

- Adam

Going for a Magna Defender/ Time Fire feel? But doesn't it defeat the purpose of saying you want an additional member but do not want a sixth ranger? Please clarify.

Sure thing, Bigdog!

Perhaps I should have elaborated just a little: See, we're not sticking to the traditional "5+" team style. In our stories, there are (or will be!) many, many Anirangers. Colours even repeat. We're looking to end up with about nine or ten Rangers at the end, possibly more!

So, the competition calls for another "standard" member of the team. There won't be such a thing as a special or "sixth" ranger (in the manner of, say, Tommy).

You are welcome to design one for us, if you'd like! I mean, I love Magna Defender and so on. We just won't be very likely to use the design anytime soon.

Hope this clears it up!

I love designing Sentai/Power Rangers. I designed a GoseiGreen , revamps of the MMPR team and this would not be a hard to do thing.

Expect one later.

Your concept reminds me of the Justice League. But with the amount of rangers you're putting in, you could seriously do something awesome. I'll PM you.

Thanks for the entry, man! You put a lot of thought into it!

If everyone else puts in as much effort as you, this is going to be great!

I am thinking of the consequences each morph does to the coin owner. For the others ,they could basically start taking the form of their animals until they become nothlits and permanently stuck in their forms if they are in it too long.

There needs to be a dynamic where there are evil owners, but since they fully believe and their contracted animal does too in their cause as good and just, it would let the wearer have the powers and be evil.

It's just those in between that use them for their own purposes and or for evil and have evil in their hearts (and their animal doesn't agree) that problems happen. The transformations speed up and the coin owner is presented with the risk of death and or mutation into a chimera monster of their animal and them. From which their coin breaks and turns into dust.

If the coin is just broken by the enemy, death occurs and the person is swallowed up by its energies and or is warped into a primal mutation not unlike a werewolf.

To prevent that, the morphers or whatever henshin device which holds the suit together would begin to beep and then demorph the user, but an override exists which is where the fun begins.

If there's no consequences in their morphs like this, then there would be no reason to just not keep on fighting until the energies of their bodies are depleted and instant death occurs.

How I came up with this ? Animorphs, Guyver , Ultraman, Ryuki are inspirations and I'm writing a Toku like this as a graphic novel but more sci-fi y.

You've hit on the plot for episode two, Bigdog. I'll try not to spoil it, but let's just say that a coin ends up in the wrong hands. The coin won't give him the power, so he takes it.
His appearance is all warped, the outward look of the suit reflecting his heart. He is a dangerous enemy, and the Anirangers will have trouble defeating him!

'Design A Ranger' - UPDATE

Hello everyone,

Just thought I'd upload a template for you to use! You don't have to use it, of course, but I hope it will help out anyone who doesn't have the time to draw a person-shape. :) Heck, I can't do it. All my design sketches come out looking like balloon models.
