Deathmatches

So, anyone here watch and Deathmatch style wrestling like FMW, BJPW, or CZW?

Me, I love a good deathmatch. Bring on the lightbulbs, beds of nails, and broken glass!!!

Dragon fighter will prolly know about this: I've been hearing about this Pool Match that FMW did a few years back. My question is, is it any good?

(I'm Dragonfighter reborn, by the way :P)

I can't say I've heard of a "pool match," but it wouldnt surprise me in the least considering it's an FMW bout. ECW is pretty hardcore, but I can't think of any federation more insane than the Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling organization. I've seen Eiji Ezaki shootingstar press out of the ring, get his face sliced up with a fork, get stripped naked and beaten to a bloody mess, set on fire, have limbs broken, get hit by a motorcycle, cover Taka Michinoku in a pile of chairs and Asai moonsault onto him, get wrapped with barbedwire, hit with boards, chairs, nails, baseball bats, crutches, get put through stacks of tables, getting nuked by pyro, and have firecrackers set off in his ass (Masashi Honda also did this, but Ezaki did it TWICE. The title of the match was even "Exploding Anus Match." YEAH damn). And that's just Ezaki! There are other arguably crazier wrestlers in the FMW (Atsushi Onita, for example) that probably exceed his blood-stained record of insanewickedawesomeness.
As for some good deathmatches, earlier I was watching an Exploding Octagon Cage match with Hayabusa and the Great Sasuke battling Tetsuhiro Kuroda and Mr. Gannosuke after weeks of turmoil and drama (GREAT match, very tense), and Hayabusa's classic match with Onita in the exploding timebomb barbwire cage match (which FMW invented, and as far as I'm concerned, perfected). I saw the barbwire-for-ropes match with Terry Funk and Tiger Jeet Singh the other day as well, and a Broken Glass Carribean Death match, and that was the shiz...

As far as a "pool match" though, I don't think I'm familiar with it. I stopped following FMW after Hayabusa's accident, so if it was in the two or three year span between the time he fell and FMW's bankruptcy, I probably haven't seen it. Do you have any more details about it?

I know what match you are talking about. I actually have it on my computer. I'll try to upload it later tonight/tomorrow, and I'll post it up here for you all to watch. I have like 5 death match tapes...History of the Big Japan Death Matches 1-3, and Best of the Explosion Death Matches 1 and 2. A good place to order some DM tapes would be RF Video, but it's very pricy(unless they've dropped the prices). One of my favorite death matches was Hayabusa vs. Atsushi Onita(the first one)....2 of the best Death Matches from ECW were Sandman vs. Sabu in a "Stairway to Heaven" match, where they had strands of barbed wire hanging from the cieling, and the Terry Funk/Sabu match from "Born to be Wired" event("An event that so was extreme, even for ECW" as the promos used to say). I'll try to upload all the stuff I have featuring deathmatches for you all.

One of my favorite death matches was Hayabusa vs. Atsushi Onita(the first one)

There was only one singles deathmatch between Hayabusa and Atsushi Onita, if I'm not mistaken. The other was a ZEN match with Hayabusa, Shinzaki, and Tanaka vs. Onita, Gannosuke, and Kanemura, which was after the Kawasaki Stadium match.

One of my favorite deathmatches ever was Hayabusa, Koji Nakagawa, and Masato Tanaka vs. Mustanga, Kanemura and Hido (W*ING guys for the most part) in the Spidernet Barbwire Carribean Glass Deathmatch (even the name is scary!). I still cringe whenever I see Hayabusa take a nosedive into the barbwire/glass net.

By the way Misfits, what exactly is a Pool Match?

Anybody remember the Funk Masters of Wrestling?

i guess it takes place in a swimming pool which is electrified. It's got Onita, Gannasuke, and Niiyama vs. Pogo, Punk and Gladiator

In the yen match, did Hayabusa hit the moonsault off the cage successfuly? And a pool match was like an explosion death match...the pool was electrified or somethin...there were also expolsions on the floor next to the ring.

In the yen match, did Hayabusa hit the moonsault off the cage successfully?

There were two Yen matches; in the first one, Hayabusa and Masato Tanaka lost to Terry Funk and Pogo, the one where Hayabusa cried when the match was over. The second one was a victory for Hayabusa, Masato Tanaka, Koji Nakagawa, and Tetsuhiro Kuroda when they beat Hisakatsu Oya, Super Leather, and The Headhunters. Hayabusa was the first up the latter resulting in the technical win, although the whole match was basically a bloodbath brawl.
The time that Hayabusa successfully hit the moonsault was during the Gannosuke/Kanemura/Onita cage match against Hayabusa/Tanaka/Shinzaki. Shinzaki kept Gannosuke busy while he was handcuffed, and Tanaka DROPPED Kanemura and Onita while Hayabusa climbed the cage and got the moonsault, which won the match.

Since there seem to be lots of ECW/RVD fans here, I'll upload the RVD/Sabu/Hayabusa/Shinzaki match later. It's not a deathmatch, and seriously fails to show Hayabusa's strengths, but it's pretty extreme nonetheless and there's lots of good stuff there.
