Craziest Asian snack food

I heard in South Korea, they eat Dog Meat. Is this true?

It's a stereotype.
There are some places that do serve dog and there are a couple of people who eat dog however, the majority of the population actually don't agree with it. A lot of Koreans actually find it disgusting to eat dog meat.

A friend of mine came back from Japan last night and told me he went to this one place that served weird food such as deer penis, dolphin meat, frog sashimi (they literally skin this thing alive in front of your face and give you it's beating heart as a little treat), and more. He said there was a word for this type of cuisine but I don't remember what it's called.

I've also 'tried' eating Balut at my friend's house. His dad ate them like it was candy but I couldn't even do it. I sipped the juice though

I also tried something called a Durian fruit? I'm not sure where it's from (probably Thailand?) but all I can say is that it is probably the worst smelling thing I have eaten in my entire life :laugh:

A lot of western people will probably balut...but if you see crazy, go for the deep fried bugs (grasshoppers, crickets, ants, etc) from various Southeastern Asian bugs.

Balut is awesome man!!! I used to eat it all the time.

The truth of the matter is. Korea as a whole would eat Dog Meat. However, in the past... 100 years South Korea has um.. what was that word.. Ascended to a new level.

North Korean Public are so poor and hungry that they have to eat anything they can. In fact.. ::sigh::

They have turned many a children into Sausages. A specific Type of Sausage, that uses The Intestines as a skin, and then mixes the meats with clear "jahp cheh" Noodles. "Soon Deh" Good stuff, but not when its SOYLENT YELLOW!

Sick ****. South Koreans still eat dog in some places, however, there is a movement for telling people DOG IS NOT FOOD, DOG IS FRIEND!, in postcards, emails, etc just spreading the word because it's just what you do.
One email I got from my aunt was.. " Don't Eat Dogs! EAT WATERMELONS!"


China has pretty much seperated Dog from Meat. Theres things called Red-Dog, meaning it's Dog, that is used for Meat(also called Meat-Dog), same for cats, and rats.

I swear I saw this. Flavored Raw Ramen. Strawberry and Banana.
You know Sapparo Ichiban Ramen is great raw, but I swear I saw it as a snack that comes with Banana or Strawberry Flavor Packets, to shake with the Raw-Ramen. Imagine someing boiling that as soup..

Yes, Koreans do eat dog (Bo-shin-tang), and my grandpa loves it. I personally never have and probably never will, but I have smelled it. It actually reeks of fat, grease, and stinks something to high heaven. However, I do also know people still do consume this pretty regularly in some areas of Korea and I've heard it tastes great with Makoli (a type of drink).

Weirdest thing I've eaten - Piranha. I swear though, damn it was GOOD. I came THIS close to trying monkey but then I balked. I've seen people eat monkey, macaws, and tarantulas though. Apparently tarantula tastes like crab - or so I'm told.

Asian snack food - remember those little star-fish thingies you eat live? Forget what the name is...but they're common in Korea - particularly by the sea.

Oh and eating that Squid thing - it's like a 6inch long squid that's still alive when you eat it. Ugh. Watched, but no way. I adore sushi, sashimi, but that's just too much.

Deer penis, bellybutton, and antlers - etc. Snake skins, intestines - these are considered delicacies in Korea and China. Often these parts are used to produce that god-awful medicine - Hanyak. I've had this all while growing up - although I doubt any of the hanyak I've taken had live parts - mostly herbs.

I heard they used to eat monkeys in some part of India. They'd chop off the heads, bleed them upside down, skin them, then serve them with rice after grilling the meat.

And in Iceland, raw seal eye balls is considered a rare and tasty treat to the children. Kinda like icecream here in america.

I'd like to try some fried squid BBQ snacks from japan.
