Could the Sci-fi Channel become good?

VengeanceGOD

WIIIIIIIIIIII!
I was watching The Lost Room, which actually kinda ruled, and a commercial for Sci-Fi in 2007 came on. A new Who Wants to Be a Superhero, a new season of Eureka, they're making a new Flash Gordon, there's gonna be a series based on Painkiller Jane, this cool new detective show called The Dresden Files, and on top of that they've got Doctor Who, Battlestar and the Stargate shows. (Well, Atlantis anyway.)

We know their original movies will suck until the end of time, but could the Sci-fi channel as a whole finally become kickass? It sure seems like it.

I've heard that they're losing their faith in BSG, sooo.... so long as they don't **** with that.

Dr. Who, I gotta say... wow. I caught the last two episodes... some planet near a blackhole that held the Devil... that was fucking badass. I was pretty damn well pleased to watch that.

Lost Room looked broke ass, but you say it was actually good? Huh... nice.

Pointless cancellation of SG1 after a 14% drop in ratings while Galactica has suffered a 22% drop in ratings and is still in production points to no.

The Ocassional good show/miniseries is only the exception to the rule.

SciFi is turning to crap.

They should NEVER have fucked with their Friday night trinity.

SG1, SGA and, Galactica.

That was a PERFECT line-up and they screwed it up then started cancelling **** (Beginning with the show that essentially made the SciFi Channel.)

They're never gonna drop Galactica, though. It's got too much of a following. I can understand being pissed that SG1 is cancelled, but it had what, 11 seasons? It'll be fine.

I'm bitter about SG1. BSG may have a big following, but didn't SG1 too? I laughed at the irony when I heard about their rating drop.

I never caught on with BSG because I believed myself to already be watching too much television. I really did plan on it, hearing how awesome the show was. But now I especially don't care to watch anything SciFi has to offer.

Doctor Who may be nice, but whoops, I've already watched the episodes without the little edits.

I watched SciFi for the Stargates. Waiting until April for the second half of the seasons? What is up with that? The only time I see myself watching SciFi in the future might be for the SG1 movies and Atlantis S4.

I'm not too upset about SG-1 ending, it's had a good run, Galactica being in danger I can only attest to how "LOTR" boring it can be at times, though their arcs are being explored much quicker than last season

The 22% drop in the shows ratings kinda proves your "Large Following" theory wrong.

Most of the "Large Following" were spill over from the Gates.

Since SG1 is gone, SGA is shakey, I mean the show's still new the odds of it surviving without the SG1/Galactica sandwhich are about 50/50.

But take note, SciFi hasn't said anything about Galactica's ratings free fall.

No, they don't want to look stupid.

Cancelling a Flagship show pretty much used their "Dumb Move" quota for the year.

Shining the light on another show that's even MORE expensive than SG1 is to produce that happened to take an 8% greater drop in ratings would only further prove that their COO is a fucking moron.
