So here's a rough pitch for a fanfic idea I've had brewing. I apologize for the format being rather crude. I kind of conceived it as an exercise for myself after the initial rumors about this years Rider show being kung-fu themed were disproven. I wondered that if I were in the position of being a Rider series creator and having to meet certain current Bandai things (like multiple Riders, a particular theme etc.) if I could play their game and still getting something that was "Ridery" to me out of it all. I appreciate any constructive coments. Let me know what you think and if you would want to see more.
The main story will revolve around a man who lives by an honor code based on the Chinese Xia philosophy.
As once described by Sima Qian:
"He will surely honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. Whatever he promises he will fulfill. He does not care his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, nor shamelessly extol his own virtues."
KAMEN RIDER XIA
A clan of rightous warriors practiced a secret form of kung-fu that allowed them to harness the power of their own Chi and use it to henshin into warriors of justice. This art was created long ago by an ancient master in order to protect humans from super-natural creatures. Through the ages they have passed their skills down from generation to generation. In the modern world, their remaining decendants use this kung-fu and weapon styles with modern day technology (Formost of which is of course high-speed motorcycles). The motifs will be based upon the creatures that represent their fighting style and spirit.
Kamen Rider Xia is a young man named Yu Jie. He can preceived as stoic but other sides of his personality will become more visiable as the story and his interactions with characters advances. He encounters a young woman who has a strong spirit and a good heart, but is also very impulsive. She wishes to learn martial arts and about the legend of the Riders. Yu Jie is reluctant to say the least, but he finds it hard to ignore her courage.
The henshin belt, called "Yi Dai" is formed by harnessing the chi the abdomen. A Rider must build up chi energy in order to be able to summon the henshin belt. This is done through a combinaton of controled breathing and henshin kata or can alternatively be achived by focusing or igniting the spirit during actual combat. Kamen Rider Xia's own equipment includes a Chinese styled broadsword and a anklet around his right foot that enhances kicking power when he channels energy to it from the belt.
The enemies are a group of warriors known as the The Five Claws of the Demon Hand or simply Demon Hand. They practice a dark and corruptive form of the same Kung-Fu that the Riders use. However, only the very strongest fighters can master it while others may finally achive its power only to be totally swallowed up by it which causes their henshins to be irreversible. Once changed, their free will is obliterated and any trace of their previous humanity is gone. From then on they live only to kill humans and feed off their chi without any real sentience of their own. These monsters are the Xhan Shi Yao. They are still powerful but are used as only soldiers by whoever can control them. Above the Demon Hand stands Jin Ming. A dark master whose past is tied to that of the Kamen Riders.
Kamen Rider Xia will attempt to mix New Century dramatic style with classic henshin hero and wuxia style action. Therefore fighting physics will be akin to films like T'ai Chi Master and Iron Monkey and Chinese manhua (comics. Orientall Heroes, Force of Buddhas Palm, Legendary Couple.)
KAMEN RIDER XIA: Dragon motif Rider. (hero)
KAMEN RIDER HU: Tiger motif Rider (?)
KAMEN RIDER LANG: Mantis motif Rider (?)
KAMEN RIDER WAN: Snake motif Rider (villan)
