Capcom banned off 2ch, "No Votes for Foreigners!"

So, right now in japan there is a Bill that would give the right to vote in local elections to Non-native permanent residents, and it looks like it's gonna pass.

Needless to say this has ignited Japanese BBS, 2ch especially. But one vocal detractor of this bill is none other than Capcom (or rather, someone working for them and used their work PC to post the message):

外国人参政権反対署名(2箇所)
東京都神社庁 1月24日 必着

外国人参政権に反対する会・全国協議会 公式サイト 1月20日 必着

ネット署名の効果は非常に小さいので紙面での署名です。
現在署名数が少なくこのままでは可決は免れないとのことです!!
日本のためにどうか署名とコピペお願いします。

The mod's at 2ch have banned all of Capcom from the site due to this post.

While the anti-foreigner flames are mostly directly at Zainichi Koreans (who not only make up most of the non-native population of Japan, but are also seen as a blight by some in the country), this bill is a big step forward for such a still somewhat Xenophobic society in being more open to everyone.

I think it means that immigrants living in Japan will finally have the right to vote. BTW What does Capcom have to do it this? Is there a political party in Japan named Capcom? OR does the devloper of Megaman and Street Fighter have something to do with this?

well that's just going to give them bad press

oh wellz .. the company is going to come cracking down on their employees now >_> that was just plain stupid >_<

Sort of.

It will give the right to vote in local elections (likely only at the Prefecture/Ward level), but not national elections, And only to those who have a "Permanent Residence" Visa (in order to have that, you need to be married to a native-born citizen and have lived in the country for at least 10 years).
