Will Ubisoft ever make a better game than Beyond Good And Evil? Not at the rate they’re going, but at least they have the sense to keep their peak game alive. Green-lipped Jade and her pal-boar Pey’j are getting a glow-up for the Beyond Good And Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition…which is coming in just five days! The original Beyond Good And Evil was created by celebrity developer Michel Ancel (who no longer works for Ubisoft) and released in 2003 for PS2, XBox and Gamecube. Playing as Jade, resident of the planet Hillys, you’re on a mission to expose the corruption in the authoritarian government, which you do by snapping pictures, leaping over lasers and whopping bad guys with your staff in a Zelda-like adventure. This game is actually approaching 21 years of age, not 20, but who’s counting. The original Beyond Good And Evil HD was delisted from Steam prior to this announcement, and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth about that, but…let me tell you that I

It's so exciting to see "Beyond Good And Evil" getting the 20th Anniversary Edition treatment! This game holds a special place in my heart; I remember playing it on my Gamecube and being blown away by the story and characters. Jade was such a strong and compelling protagonist, and the game's mix of photography, stealth, and action was ahead of its time. I'm thrilled to see that Ubisoft is including new features like the treasure hunt and anniversary gallery, and I can't wait to hear the re-orchestrated soundtrack. Even though Beyond Good And Evil 2 seems like a pipe dream at this point, this anniversary edition is a wonderful way to celebrate the original masterpiece.

While I'm glad "Beyond Good And Evil" is getting some love with the 20th Anniversary Edition, I can't help but feel a bit skeptical. Ubisoft has a history of overpromising and underdelivering. The mention of a new mission linking to the elusive "Beyond Good And Evil 2" feels like a desperate attempt to keep interest alive for a sequel that might never see the light of day. The original game was indeed a gem, and I hope this remaster does it justice. However, I'm wary of whether the new features will be substantial or just superficial additions to lure in fans. I'll be cautiously optimistic but won't hold my breath for miracles.

Seeing "Beyond Good And Evil" being revived with a 20th Anniversary Edition brings back so many memories! The game was criminally underrated when it first came out, but those of us who played it know just how special it is. Jade and Pey’j were such memorable characters, and the story was captivating. The game didn’t get the recognition it deserved back then, but it’s great to see it finally getting some appreciation. I’m looking forward to the new features and especially the re-orchestrated soundtrack. This edition is a wonderful way to introduce a new generation to this classic, and I can't wait to play it again.

The original "Beyond Good And Evil" was truly a hidden gem, and it's fantastic to see it getting the recognition it deserves with this 20th Anniversary Edition. One of the standout aspects of the game was its protagonist, Jade. She was one of the few female leads in video games who wasn't sexualized, which was a rare and refreshing departure from the norm at the time. Jade's character was strong, intelligent, and relatable, setting a high standard for female representation in gaming. The game's blend of adventure, stealth, and photography was innovative, and its story about uncovering governmental corruption was compelling and ahead of its time. Despite its initial underwhelming commercial performance, its cult following has remained loyal, and this anniversary edition is a great opportunity for new players to experience its brilliance. I'm excited to see Jade and her world brought to life with modern enhancements, and I hope this release sparks renewed appreciation for such a groundbreaking game.

Let's be honest here, the reason "Beyond Good And Evil" flopped originally is simple: Jade is ugly. Gamers just weren't interested in playing as someone who isn't a bombshell. Who needs a deep story, creative gameplay, or a strong, unsexualized female lead when you can have, you know, eye candy? Clearly, the only reason the game bombed was because Jade isn't a supermodel. Maybe in this 20th Anniversary Edition, they should give her a makeover or something. Then it might finally get the recognition it "deserved" because, let's face it, nothing says success like superficial looks, right?

@Maverick Wow, seriously? It’s infuriating to see comments like this. "Beyond Good And Evil" is a fantastic game with a groundbreaking female lead who doesn’t conform to shallow beauty standards, and that's something to celebrate, not mock. Jade’s character is strong, intelligent, and relatable – qualities that should be valued over superficial appearances. Reducing her and the game’s success to looks is not only incredibly sexist but also misses the entire point of what makes "Beyond Good And Evil" special. We need more diverse and realistic representations of women in video games, not fewer. Comments like this just reinforce harmful stereotypes and ignore the real reasons why the game has a loyal cult following. Let’s appreciate games for their depth, creativity, and the progress they make in representation, rather than reducing everything to looks.

Beyond Good & Evil 2? Yeah, right. Ubisoft has been dangling that carrot for years. This anniversary edition feels more like a desperate attempt to keep the BG&E name relevant while they milk their precious Assassin's Creed cow dry. I wouldn't be surprised if this edition is riddled with microtransactions or some kind of online gimmick shoved in for no reason.

Man, 20 years already? Beyond Good & Evil feels like yesterday. I remember spending hours exploring Hillys with Jade, snapping photos of everything in sight. The soundtrack was incredible too. This anniversary edition might be the perfect excuse to revisit that world. Who knows, maybe it'll even rekindle hope for BG&E2... a guy can dream, right?
