Best Toku of 2006?

I've been trying to decide whether it's Kabuto or Garo that holds the title for most overrated tokusatsu...

I got to side with Kabuto. Garo is overrated, even though I do like the series, but Kabuto is far worse. Tendou Souji acts like a fucking god in the series, to the point where he's boring as hell and the treatment he gets from Fanboys doesn't help at all either. The worms have less of a reason to be around than the freaking Makamou do but yet somehow because they "Molt" and go reallly fast, they are considered great. Then you get an Depressed Yes man, A gimp no one likes, a Pedophile, an Idiot, and a painfully oblivious Worm/Human and have them just fight the worms/each other for 20 episodes. Plot Advancement, other than getting an unnecessary power up for the godmodding Rider? Forget about it, We are 46 episodes into the damn series, and you still don't know what the hell worms are doing besides killing and mimicing humans, which now seems to be a tacked on power, instead of plot relevant. And in mysteries with some of the lamest revolutions to match with them, and it's no wonder why you got a series that only excels the lackluster storytelling of Faiz in flashiness.

Garo, while not being really all that mature, at least had a decent plot twist that I didn't seem coming, and a couple Gonza moments aside, a series that was refreshingly free from an over exgerrating character making a joke of everything.

I'm still wishing for a story to be told as tightly as Blade's was. Yes It was stilll a bunch of silly men in costumes beating each other up and selling toys, but if you paid attention to it even slightly, you began to knew how fucked the riders were, until they found a good solution to beat the undead, and the ending pulled it off beautifully. Yes the Series had it's negative points, but in the end, I feel the way they pulled off the story made the series a stand out amoungst most of the new gen riders I have seen. (Still got to see Agito and Kuuga though.)

But yeah back to my orginal point, I have to agree. Kabuto=Most. Overrated. Rider. Series. EVER.

I mean I watched Kabuto for a while and it was pretty fun for what it was, but everybody's all "JESUS CHRIST, KABUTO!" and I dunno why. It's just kind of an average show disguised as a good one.

i have to say Kamen Rider Kabuto. it had a good story with excellent characters. i grew attached to the characters very quick compared to other series. even Boukenger is good, i have to admit that Magiranger had me on the edge of my seat last year and Boukenger is not doing that for me so far.

Kabuto's the show I've followed the closest, but I have to say that when it comes to making a series to celebrate your anniversary, Mebius schooled the other two big time.

For me the best Toku for 2006 is Kamen Rider Kabuto. I really enjoy it. It's simply the best new gen KR series. :buttrock:

Garo earns the second place. I hope they will make this series a new chapter. And I hope Tsubasa/Dan will be a regular in this second season. He's major cutie.

Garo with Boukenger in second.

Kabuto started with alot of promise and I'm beyond dissapointed at what it turned into.

Ryukendo was just kinda there. It existed. I couldn't get into Mebius but that's prolly just me since the only Ultra's I ever took a shine to were Tiga and Nexus.

Garo is overrated and garbage. That show is sooo boring. It doesn't interest me at all. Sorry, Garo fans.

Boukenger... eerr... no no... BOOOOOOOOOOORINGER! Not one of my favourite at all. I still watch Boukenger and there are some episodes that I like. Not like "Barney-Wannabe Monster" and Clip show episodes. -_-

There are only three shows that I enjoy....

Kamen Rider Kabuto
Ultraman Mebious - 40 ANNIVERSARY!
Bio Planet Woo - I need to finish watching this show. I'm stuck on episode 4. I need to see the rest of it.

As for 2007, Gekiranger is exactly what I'm definitely looking forward! Kamen Rider Den-O... possibly and I'm hoping that'll turn out good and then I'll continue to watch.

I think overall 2006 is a good year for Tokusatsu. Both TOEI's Rider and Sentai series are better than 2005. I really love Kabuto, and I think Boukenger is better than Magiranger.

Plus we get some promising new franchises like Garo and Madan Senki Ryukendo. Hopefully these new franchises, along with the older ones, will add more glory for Tokusatsu world next year.

Viva Toku 2006! :buttrock:
