Best and Worst 80's Music!!!

Black Ranger RX

I don't have low self esteem.
So yeah, as the title states, which songs/music/artists/etc.. between the years of 1980 and 1989 do you absolutely love to death or hate.

You could've been a teenager or young person in the 80's, or you could've been a very young child in the 80's (like me) or you might've not even been born in the 80's.

Did you have a crush on Kylie Minogue or Rick Astley?

Were you were one of Sabrina's 'Boys'?

Were you one of Jason Donnovan's 'Too Many Broken Hearts'?

Did you boogie with Michael Jackson to Thriller or Bad? Were you a Moonwalker?

Or were you more into 80's Heavy Metal and Rock, such as ACDC, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, etc..? Did you 'Run to the Hills'? If you did, did you 'Run for Your Life'?

Did you go down the street carrying a huge boom box blasting out Beastie Boys and Run DMC? Did you wear a Wolkswagen logo around your neck?

Were you a breakdancer?

Even 80's JPop. Did you absolutely HATE Onyanko Club? Were they AKB48 of their time? Did you like TM Network?

Or any 80's music you recently discovered? Did you get Rickroll'd loads of times?

Do you think we'll ever hear George Michael rap again? :P

DISCUSS!!!

Anyway, I'll just finish this post by listing 5 80's songs that I like and 5 that I dislike (not in order).

Like

1 - "Thriller", "Bad" and pretty much most music by Michael Jackson.
You can't deny it, Michael Jackson is a legend. He's not called the King of Pop for nothing.

2 - "Get Wild" by TM Netork.
I prefer the 89 version of this song. When I first heard this song I wasn't fluent in Japanese but that didn't stop me from enjoying the synth music.

3 - "99 LuftBallons" by Nena
There's an English version of this song but I'm fluent in German anyway. Apart from that, this song is simply a classic.

4 - "Run With Us" by Lisa Lougheed.
This was the end credits song to The Racoons, and although I've seen this cartoon before I was never really into it, but still this song is awesome!!

5 - "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley.
This song is my guilty pleasure (and so is RickRolling people :P).

Dislike

1 - "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" Cindi Lauper.
This song is the 80'd equivilant of listening to someone scratch a chalk board with his nail. :P

2 - Any song by Eurythmics. I'm sorry but for some reason Eurythmics just doesn't do it for me. I don't hate Eurythmics, but I just can't get into their music.

3 - "Prince Charming" by Adam and the Ants
All I can say about this song is... If silly noises was music, these guys are proffessionals.

4 "The look of Love" by ABC.
If it weren't for the fucking moronic music video this song would be a boring forgettable song that would be really annoying to listen to. Especially when the DJ plays it to death.

5 - Any Song by Onyanko Club.
Ok, if I'm being honest I doi thoink they're better than AKB48 because of their 80's style synth music, but that doesn't help the fact that Onyanko Club are still AKB48 of the 80's and that they still can't sing at all.

Some of my likes:
Fra Lippo Lippi (Angel, Beauty and Madness, etc.)
Spandau Ballet (Gold)
Tears for Fears (Shout, etc.)
Heart (Alone, These Dreams)
Cutting Crew (I Just Died In Your Arms)
Crowded House (Don't Dream It's Over)
Chicago (You're The Inspiration)
1990 had Go West with Wishful Thinking.
There was also that whole popstar war thing between Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, they were my guilty pleasures.

Didn't like Cyndi Lauper myself. Her songs were good, but it would've been nice to have another person singing them.

Dial My Heart by The Boyz (1988) is my fucking go-to song.
Get Wild is actually from City Hunter. I have that soundtrack and all the episodes of CH for 2 years now. Best purchase ever.

For me I just read up on Oyanko Club and they are more MoMusu to me than fucking AKB48, I swear the male fans that like them, as in AKB are perverts because their voices are like the streotypical perception of the japanese female industry.

for me:
RUN DMC
Madonna-True Blue, Like a Prayer and 1992 ALBUM ARE MY ****.
New Edition
Eurythmics

Michael Jackson
Cutting Crew
En Vogue
Wink- ai ga tomaranai goes hard
Toshinobu Kubota
Kylie Minogue
Samantha who sings that Dusty Springfield song
Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam
Bobby brown
Vixen
Bon Jovi
Rick Astley
Firehouse
Sinead O' Connor
The Black Crowes
Denise Lopez to name a few

Dunno about perverts, but I think really they are the same sort of people as Beliebers. Basically when it comes to musical criticism, they just won't take it whenever anyone says anything negative about AKB48 or Onyanko Club. It doesn't matter whether it's constructive criticism, or whether you're just innocently saying AKB and Onyanko are not to your taste, or if you're just blatantly bashing AKB and Onyanko just to be a troll. They'll get angry, throw babyish tantrums, and they'll go on and on about how AKB and Onyanko are 'the best musical artist in the world and if anybody disses them, **** them'. With that they'll give completely meaningless reasons as to why they are so, such as they're cute and that one day they're going to become that certain member's boyfriend.

Just like Beliebers. Only difference being is they're men.

Then again, Beliebers can be perverts too.

I actuallly like Morning Musume. I don't know what it is but they seem to have something AKB and Onyanko Club don't. Perhaps it's good humour..

But anyway, BACK TO THE 80'S!!!

I really aught to give City Hunter a shot. I think there's also a Live Action version of City Hunter which had Jackie Chan in it.

I did a YouTube search of "Ai Ga Tomaranai" by Wink, and I think I came across these girls before, they also did a song called "One Night in Heaven".

Other 80's JPop artists I like are Nishida Hikaru and Noriko Sakai. My favorite song from Nishida Hikaru is "Nice Catch", and I think her most popular song is called "Tokimeite", which I personally find a bit boring. Maybe it's because my Japanese is still not perfect so I don't understand the lyrics, but I just think the music is a bit blah. As for Noriko Sakai, my favorite song of her's is "Guanbare", and I believe she also did music for GunBuster.

Yay for googling Wink. They are awesome. Please tell me how the **** I forgot about Yasuyuki Okamura? He's amazing and still relevant today despite the drug charges.
