"Battle Worn" KR1: The NEXT

To get a goog battle worn look, maybe put some dirt on the suit and helmet, roll on the ground a little in your suit or something to get a "natural battle worn effect" to it, well thats just me, its up to you.

Hey Ryuutaros,

Um...no, that would not be a good idea right now. Otherwise, the thread would change to, "KR1: The Mud Wrestler"! It's been raining more off than on for weeks now.:disappoin

I was thinking about "zapping it" here and there with some spray paint...but I don't wanna screw it up even further.

Hey could you take a pic with a bike, that would be so awesome.:buttrock:

Oy Takumi,

Will try...my friend has a souped up Ninja 250...and it has fallen down so much, it would definitely match the "Battle Worn Theme"!

^Seconded!

Nice job on the suit, by the way!

Howzit DarkWolf,

As I said, I will try. My other buddy has a niiiiiiice GSXR, but there are Punisher stickers all over it...looks better than my friend's Ninja though!

HEY, Henshin Safely you guys, and Happy New Year:buttrock:

Hi Ridah Shunsoku,

I read through all the posts and watched it's "evolution". I'd have to say that your costume looks great. I'd be inspired too if I had such a helmet, but I don't know if the outcome would be as good. However, I am inspired to ask,

Was the ab/chest armor difficult to attach to your jacket?

What was the underlying base for the boots and gloves?

Howzit ShadowHopper,

Welcome to HJU! (Great avy BTW!!!):buttrock: Thanks for checking out this thread from the beginning...a lot has happened here.:anime: I appreciate your kind words, but the suit was not that hard to make, finding the time was...:redface2:

As for the chest/ab armor, in my first version, I actually had strips of wire running across the backsides of the pieces. This way, I could at least try to conform them to my body and create the "illusion" of some "depth"...never worked. Both versions however, were/are a bit difficult to attach to my old duty jacket. I used a spray adhesive in case I want to make changes, I can "easily remove" the pieces. FWIW, I tried one armor version made out of almost two inch foam, and it added height, but looked really stoopid. Plus, I could not add all the little details to it like the 1/4 inch foam I currently have on.

Underlying base for the gloves were found at a military surplus store. They are some kinda "Chemical Gloves", way more sturdy than the store bought "dishwashing" types! However, when I put these gloves on after paintng, the paint "cracks" and sometimes flakes off, which is okay, because the gloves are black...so it adds more to the theme of things. I used batting gloves to go over the chemical gloves, and the "bubble thingy" is actually from a "squeaky toy" that my puppy ripped out from the head of one of his toys. I simply cut that in half, and glued it onto the batting glove strap. I DID do the "jointed fingers" like on the First and Next suits, but I am not sure if I am going to add them on.

The boots are typical rain boots. However, the piece that covers the instep was cut from an old pair of rain boots, and the part with the studs that covers the shin area is actually the same foam I used for the chest/ab armor.

Hop...I mean, hope this helped Hoppah!

Same here, I have been inspired to do one as well, I want to make a V3 THE NEXT Cosplay, but the budget is tight and I don't know what materials to use and I can't find a right jacket (Maybe one of those bike shops will have one) and the last hard thing is the F#$%!ing helmet, DAMN, I can't buy a V3 helmet because of budget and I don't know how to make one :disappoin

Oy Ryuutaros,

Just go for it my friend! My budget is tight as well, if it even exists, hence the reason for making my own suit. Sure, it ain't perfect, and will not get a lotta, "oohs and ahhs", but that's okay. I grew up watching the original KR1, so to have his Helmet of "now", I needed to try to build matching suit.:buttrock:

Materials is easy...if ya go *my* route that is!

Have ya checked any used clothes shops for a jacket? Sometimes surplus stores carry this jacket, some might even be used (just hope no one friggin' died in it!:sly: ) and they should sell it for cheap.

I say again, go for it!!! SO ya gotta get the helmet of "Bwee-Suhree" to make it complete, but it doesn't mean ya can't build the suit at least and take some kick @$$ Henshin pics!!!

Keep us posted, Henshin Safely, and Happy New Year:buttrock:

Ridah Shunsoku,

Your humility is refreshing.

I was somewhat inspired to create my own Kamen Rider suit inspired by The First and The Next modern style. Your tips certainly helped show me what is possible. I also played with the idea of using wires to shape things such as armor and fabric, I'm glad to see that it works.

Now I just need time (which like you, I can't seem to find) on my drawing board to figure out the design and details. Thanks for your time.

(Thanks for the compliment, the avy was a quick edit/recolor of an image from The First)

Thanks ShadowHopper,

IMHO, the FIRST and NEXT suits are the easiest to make...unless of course you are making the "Snake dude's" suit from the FIRST!

Yeah man, I had to get "creative"...no way I could spend 1K+ for the suit outta Thailand. Anyway, keep us posted on YOUR suit, and do take your time on it, unlike me.

Take care and Henshin Safely!

I've totally had it on the top of my to-do list to attempt a Gills suit or something using fiberglass, but I need a job first.

Maybe this summer if I'm not too busy...
