Battle Royale [Manga]

Hey, fellow HJU members. I was at Border's the other day with my girlfriend and she wanted to get some Anime for her birthday, so I got her a bunch of One Piece...

Anyway, while browsing, I came upon a manga called 'Battle Royale' by Tokyopop. They had issues 1-15. Most of them were wrapped in plastic (Which means there was porn inside). Anyway, I grabbed one that was open and started reading it.

Apparently, there's a bunch of kids trapped in this island-type place, they're each given a different weapon, and whoever's the last person alive gets to go home and see their family again...

It was pretty gnarly graphics and story. From what I read, some chick that had a razor would seduce guys and kill them. Its fairly interesting and I think they made it into a movie...

Any thoughts on this, guys?

the Battle Royale movie was very very sick but that was what made it good. the manga had lots of gore and sick stuff too but not all of it made it to the movie. there is a second Battle Royale movie but it sucked badly. even though there were a lot of KR and Sentai alumni in the second film, the story was kinda lame.

In Italy Battle Royale was 15 volumes, I presume also the USA edition is like this.

Just for info, there's a second manga, BR II - Blitz Royale [IIRC, two volumes only]. While Battle Royale -the first movie- has taken inspiration from the manga, in this case it's the contrary. But BR II - Blitz Royale is not bad like the second movie; it's also not good like the first manga, though. There's a very interesting interview to Fukasaku Kinji bout the first movie.

something about the chick with the scythe going around fucking dudes then killing them, but one kid takes a bullet for her. She starts sucking the wound (god knows why) saying it would make him better?? Then I guess it gives him a boner and she straddles him?? >.>; Then to top it off, she stabs him in the face with the scythe while riding him....

Pretty weird... especially when I saw a few of the sex scene pages ripped out... some sick mofo was off having a good time with the hentai :fappery:

Read the novel. It is a beautiful piece of work.

The manga, on the other hand, is pure shocking visuals, but it is the closer adaptation to the original novel than the movie.

I haven't read the manga but the movie was great. I had a bunch of co-workers at the hospital wanting to see it and let them watch it. Afterwords they loved it but said I have issues for loving that movie.
I also had them watch suicide club again same response that I have issues to which my reply was you know I'm trying to get a job as a crime scene tech so whats your point.
