Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

Picked up the game yesterday being the biggest Banjo fan in the world. On that premise, I gotta say I'm sorely disappointed so far. It's not a bad game at all, just as a Banjo game, well, it's not a Banjo game in anything but the name.

THIS GAME IS NOT A PLATFORMER. Let me just make that clear. There is no platforming at all. Banjo can jump and run, Kazooie just swings that tool...whatever the hell that is. Everything else is driving, flying, or whatever on vehicles. The gameplay is nothing like the old Banjo games. I described it to my friend as GTbAnjo. In the old Banjo games you went into a world, you knew there were 10 jiggys, 100 notes, so on and so on. It's was simple. You had to explore the world and while you went around there was no problem collecting 100 notes, and it was just enjoyable exploring. There's none of that in the new Banjo. There are worlds, and there are acts.

You go into a world, and there's a GTAesque mini map showing you where the jiggys are. You go there, talk to a person, and enter into a challenge. You either race someone, chase someone, get somewhere quick, collect things on your vehicles and take them somewhere. That's really all I've experienced so far. Then, when you're done with those, you go to the hub world, and go into the next act of the same world. There is no exploring and that makes collecting notes in the world a bore.

If you were thinking of getting this game because you liked the old ones...don't. If you don't mind playing something different and enjoy the old Banjo charm, it's still mostly there, and it's only $40, give it a shot. Me? I played the first world and proceeded to 100% the original on XBLA in no time and had MUCH more fun.

That's just me though, what do you all who've played it think?

Yah I checked it out couple of times. I'm sure to be dissapointed when I saw how it was being made, and the direction it was going! I myself is also a banjo fan of the old, but this new one, really didn't give me that flare it once had with the 64 game

I've played the demo of it, and my primary gripe is one that will prevent me from playing the full version. The text is WAY too small to read. I couldn't even beat the demo because I didn't know what to do :redface2:

You're probably on an SDTV, right? Apparently there's a patch in the works...but it'll be released within a month or so.
