Avatar: The Last Airbender - TALKBACK!!!

Sentaifan'07 Xman

"Let's DRIVING!!!!!"
I am surprised that no one has ever thought about this topic before so I figured, what the hell?!

Anyways, today we all get to talk about Avatar: The Last Airbender and what we thought about the show, the characters, the background, the storyline, most favourite moments, least favourite moments, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Reason, I just finished watching finale and to be honest, I enjoyed every last minute of it. The only loopholes that the writers should have added were the whereabouts of Zuko's longlost mother and what will happen to princess Azula?!

If any of you guys wanna talk the show in general or if you want to share your opinions about what ideas should have been used in any particular episodes or thoughts about the characters as I mentioned before, please talk about them so that we can all hear.

Thanks and Good night!!:buttrock:

omg dude i was hoping for someone to make a post like this!
i finished watchin the whole week of new eps, but im kind of...disappointed..
avatar was supposed to be that kind of show where a new ep would come up on friday right? but all of a sudden...nick just YANKS it off the air, and then every once in a while it would make like a "guest appearance" that night...
im hoping that if they make a "book of air", that it becomes a weekly thing, not something every once in a while.....

I feel bad that I actually had only caught a random episode here or there during it's initial run but I finally got truly hooked when they were running the marathons leading up to the premiere of Sozin's Comet.

To say the least, I really love this show. Epic, awesome, full of heart and a great spirit. It's an excellent series all around with a wonderful cast of characters. It balanced humor, action, and drama very well and is easily the single best answer to anime that American animation has ever created. The ending was total awesome. I can't wait to see what this same team does next.

Also major props go to the late Mako (the Conan movies, Aku in Samurai Jack) for his work voicing Iroh.

I was thinking the same thing to. I hope there's gonna be another season namely "The Book of Air". Who knows perhaps there might be a few surviving Air nomads.

Aang is the last, there won't be anymore.

There's heavy rumors going around that at the Sand Diego Comic Con a new series will be around, though not focused on Aang, just another Avatar. Which would be an interesting idea.

This was a great show. I didn't really start trying to watch every new episode until about a quarter into the 2nd season. Thats when it picked up (to me at the time).:)
About the finale, it was excellent. Ended the story well, great animation, and great music (especially during Zuko's and Azula's duel). I only have one issue with it (not major though).
[hide] - Azula's mental breakdown felt a bit rushed. I might just need to watch it again, but at the time, I felt that they needed another couple of minutes or an episode to help depict her mental breakdown. Its nothing to hold against the show, but I just felt that a little more time should've been spent on it.
- I will admit that I did have a small problem with the Fire Lord's fate, but after awhile, I got over it. The one used in the show feels more appropriate. :)[/hide]
The only loopholes that the writers should have added were the whereabouts of Zuko's longlost mother and what will happen to princess Azula?!
Don't know about Azula, but maybe they were setting up to have a tv movie or small mini-series about this. I know that the show is over now, but they could revisit it again.
edit: I forgot to add that I will go back and watch the episodes that I missed.

I am not a big fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but despite that, I still have a lot of respect for it. Why? Because it actually WENT SOMEWHERE!!! Unlike, say, Samurai Jack, which, despite having such beautiful animation and design (some of the best I've seen), never really went anywhere, and ultimately got canceled.

Yes, I'm sure fans and the like nationwide will all be boo-hooing and may have to, er, move on with their lives, but I couldn't be more proud to see a show end so well, and with resonance, even! Usually, American cartoon shows, even like this, are afraid to have closure of any kind! (Daria and Kim Possible are great exceptions, although I thought the "extra season" for KP was rather superfluous with its over-the-top finale, considering that I though So the Drama was already a great epic conclusion.)

Agreed here, Avatar, for some inexplicable reason...didnt appeal to me that much, but I did beleive from what I saw it was Samurai Jack done right...story before visual, all the right characters were lovable and well-written, and the villains you actually wanted to throttle rather than support in a "I wanna do the cool thing" way.

Not to mention it followed the approach that few other shows have done like Beast Wars and Lilo and Stitch etc...it ended after three years with a definate conclusion, without risking the show jumping the shark if it went further...and leaving enough open for movies or mini-series.

avatar was an awesome series, though I wasn't too fond of the DBZ like final battle between the avatar and the firelord.
