Asian Kung-Fu Generation

Since I just started really listening to AKFG's latest album, Fanclub, I figured I'd come here and ask who's a fan of this really awesome J-Rock band. (That's not V-Kei, thankfully...)

Asian Kung Fu Generation is my favoritist band ever, I own all their albums and singles and some T-Shirts and posters (oh my!) and fun stuff like that. :anime:

They're good, they really blew up after the whole Naruto Opening 2 thing. Before that they were considered indie.

Awesome, Bolt! I saw your post and I sort of figured you'd trash them, but its glad to know I found a fellow fan of the group.

Question for anyone who's posted and people who will post: How'd you find out about them?

Sadly, like I find out about most groups, I first heard them when I was watching Naruto and saw the Haruka Kanata OP. Even though I later realized that it was one of their weaker songs (especially compared to....pretty much ALL of Sol-Fa), it was what got me started. I very quickly went and got Kunkei Five M (Kimi toiu Hana is an awesome song), and the rest is fanboy history...

They're alright, but Guitar Wolf owns.

I have an extremely rare DVD of their last live at CBGBs. it's the recording of the full performance which my friend recorded and transferred to DVD to send to their record execs to use in a DVD, and some that footage was used on this DVD.

My friend who is in an indie band called 54 Nude Honeys heard them play with their new bassist and says he's not very good. =(

I personally heard about Asian Kungfu from the friend that recorded that Guitar Wolf live. He heard about them before they blew up from the Naruto thing.

After looking them up on Wiki (and that one pic with what I guess is a translation at the bottom), they sound like a group that I...really could not get into.

But then again, I'm a bit specific about my rock groups.

They're a noisy garage band, that have been around for over a decade. They've really helped the underground rock industry in Japan with their image and music.

I heard their song Number Girl Syndrome in some Dura-Doa special and immediately bought Houkai Amplifier and Mirai no Kakera.

Yeah, but AKFG is just like rock and Guitar Wolf is trash-thrash-smash-bash-crash-grease-grunge-garage-noise rock.

I have most of Guitar Wolf's CDs too. :anime:

And Haruka Kanata is a great song, certainly not their best but better than a lot of stuff on Sol Fa, especially songs like My World and Mayonaka to Mahiru no Yume. I hadn't even heard of Naruto when I got Houkai Amplifier, so I can't claim to be in the majority that heard it through Naruto, but it's still one of my favorites.
