Hymowitz sounds a lot like my brother, who thinks anime, tokusatsu, and video games are kid stuff.

Reasonable minds can disagree, and I certainly think that being interested in any of the three things I mentioned does not make a person any less mature than a person who isn't.

Video games definately fulfill a certain masculine need in me that has no place in the real world.

So long as the man faces his responsibilities and doesn't live with his mother and/or dad then I don't see what the big deal if a guy is playing computer games or other video games. I guess professional athletes are also children because they're playing a sport until their 40s or even 50s (like golf players).

QFT. And yeah, it's about balance. Incidentally, the article below it...by Arnett, makes a good point.

And in the past, yes, people stopped their educations much earlier; now, they don't have to. It's going to push the marriage age bracket and (adulthood) higher; at the same time, the age ppl live to is increasing as well, so it balances out. Some of my friends got married out of college, some HS - and I give them props, but cannot see myself doing either. Preference, life circumstances, finance (definitely) and career or intended careers all play into deciding when you want to bridge certain milestones in life.

That's totally true. I consider it a line similar to most other things, that your hobby does not rule your life. Moderation, so you're not doing a thing outside of WoW or something its cool. You have a job, friends, know basic hygiene, how to cook, and have goals like home or car ownership its all good.

I repeat, what's wrong with playing videogames? Absolutely nothing, as long as it doesn't take over your life.

To me, it sounds like Hymowitz just needs to get laid, or at least play a good round of Halo.
