Anniversary team ups, have they lost excitment?

At this point, the only way to put all of the Riders in one universe is to start all over again, to where some of the older stories are disregarded. Which is what we have with W, OOO, & Fourze. It like what DC Comics did recent after Flashpoint.

I think classic Kamen Rider has always had a shared universe, but largely separate story lines. The links between V3 & the original are the strongest because V3 is continuing right on after the original. It is directly building off of story elements from the first series. But even there you've still got stuff like Gelshocker making a very public attack in the original, and by V3 nobody knows what Destron is again. X, Amazon & Stronger (and so on) all kind of do their own thing on a story level, but they still have Tachibana to provide that link until later on. The other Riders don't show up in them until later (if at all) because that's the nature of their stories. It's like having two people in life who have similar experiences, but only learn about each other and cross paths later on. But they also happen to share a mutual friend.

It's structured in such a way where shows are not dependent on each other for the continuity, but rather that's something that comes organically when there is a team-up. Which I think is the best way to do it and the way Kamen Rider should do it. You really can't have draconian continuity in Rider because it's part of the whole franchise that each show can act as a self-contained series that puts its own spin on things, as well as potentially part of a greater story.

Whenever I see movies like these, I automatically start trying to make them all fit in.
Especially Kamen Rider ones.

Speaking of being potentially part of a greater story, I'm hoping that they continue with the Foundation X thread in the fashion of using the Great Leader as the guy pulling the strings behind the scenes in the Showa series. It's a great way to get team-ups (a common foe) and a nice bit of overarching plot thread to slowly unravel with each series.

On topic, I just hope they don't go along with a Superhero Taisen movie every spring and just end the festivities with the Superhero Taisen one to close off the 40th and 35th anniversaries, because having too much movies is overkill. It takes away the specialness of the event by having it happen every now and then. I mean, back when Decade's All Riders happened, it generated a lot of hype because the last time there was a huge crossover of Kamen Riders was 10+ years before Decade at the end of Black RX. Now we've got the Den-O All Riders movie and Movie Wars, so it's not that huge of a deal nowadays. Mini-crossovers like Movie Wars is okay, but a crossover where a lot of guys appear is a no, thank you. We still have the 50th anniversary coming up in just under 10 years anyway.

...although I'd hate to admit, if it happens, I'd still watch all the movies anyway.

I'm fairly certain that, after 2012, they're going to take a break from this sort of mega-appearance "anniversary" event, if only because it's starting to get expensive to have that many people / stunts / graphics featuring everyone.

The 40th SS will likely be restrained to maybe the last 5 Sentai teams (as was Boukenger in the 30th). I don't think they're going to do a 40th anniversary in 2015, since there's no precedent for date-of-broadcast anniversaries.

Rider is going to be somewhat worrisome because they have two types of commemorations: Rider count (Decade was the 10th Heisei and 25th Rider) and date of broadcast (OOO started the 40th anniversary celebration year). 2013-14 will be the 30th (15th Heisei) Rider while 2017 will be the 45th anniversary.

Considering how they pulled the Legend War and the clone fight in 199 Heroes, which had a much higher number of suits, I think Rider will be just fine for a while...
