Americanized Death Note movie is coming....

Eh, compared to something like Dragonball, Death Note isn't that long-running though. DN only had 12 volumes plus the How to Read - volume 13, while DragonBall had 42 total.

And many of us like to pretend like DN ended a while before that... :redface2:

Though I'm sure DB manga fandom has its "never happened" segments too...

I understand where you're gett'n at but . . .

. . . Why are you even comparing Death note to Dragon Ball? they're 2 completely different shows :eyebrow:
Seriously?
Because there both popular Japanese tv shows that have/are being turned into American movies and Dragonball was the last Japanese tv show to be turned into an American movie and it was ****. You don't see the connection?

Death Note was and always will be brilliant. I have no problem with this. If it's good, awesome. If it sucks.. who cares? Original will always be.

Actually , the way the story arcs went, Dragonball in its entirety minus GT could be two trilogies if adapted straight on and good. The way the stories are make it easy to interlink them into seamless epic martial art- comedy films which would be loads better than that crappola known as DBE. Saw only 5 miniutes of it for free on tv and it is unwatchable and makes me wonder how they could have screwed such an easy series up . Same thing with Avatar : TLA too.

Unlike Dragonball where its an effects whore , Death Note in its base form is a psychological thriller kind of manga. Sure there are the Shinigami ,but they really have no real influence over the story if you don't consider the shinigami eyes Misa got and the temptation Light refused.

I read a portion of the leaked script and while its not like the series in a sense that it is in America which offers a ton of plot holes in of themselves, it is better than the first Japanese film. My only suggestion would be to go The Grudge on it and just set it in Japan and just have a transfer student who's Japanese American ,a recently immigrated family or otherwise be in the role of Light as it would throw some more plot twists. That and add some shinigami with apple antics!!! I love the whole Ryuk- Light dynamic over apples!!!
