Alternatives to D&D for Tactical Combat and Rich Narratives?

I've been entrenched in D&D for years, and while I love the tactical combat and storytelling it offers, I'm curious about what other RPG systems might scratch that same itch. I've enjoyed Pathfinder and Warhammer RPGs for their complexity and depth, but I'm looking for something fresh. Are there any lesser-known systems or hidden gems that offer robust tactical gameplay and strong narrative elements? Qapla'!

Have you checked out Shadow of the Demon Lord? It combines tactical combat with some really dark, rich narrative elements.
