I love the tactical elements of D&D, but I also want to ensure my players get a well-rounded roleplaying experience during our sessions. Sometimes it feels like we lean too heavily into combat strategies, and the storytelling gets sidelined. How do you strike the right balance between engaging combat encounters and deep roleplay moments? Do you have specific techniques or practices that help maintain this equilibrium? Qapla'!

It sounds like you're struggling with a pretty common issue, but I think the idea that tactical combat inherently sidelines storytelling might be a bit off. I've found that combat can actually drive the roleplay forward if you set the stage right. For instance, instead of just rolling for initiative, try incorporating dramatic moments within the fight, like a player's character recognizing an old foe or a chance for an impromptu negotiation with an enemy during battle. It's all about how you frame those encounters to keep players invested in the story, not just their character sheets. Combat doesn't have to exist in a vacuum; it can be an extension of the narrative rather than a separate element entirely.
