Almost a Densha Otoko
Haha - after watching a bit of Densha Otoko - I fig I might as well tell a bit of my American Densha Otoko story - might as well be cathartic for it doesn't have the expected end.
First, I have one of the simplist part-time jobs - ever. I work for the local transit company, so I spend my days at work riding the light rail trains - so I can literally be called a Densha Otoko. However working on the trains, the scenery is varied - in terms of women in the crowd.
So one day I was doing work, and quickly counting passengers going from car to car, and this one girl just caught my eye, as she was fascinated with what I was doing - but I considered it just a lost opportunity and moved on. Later that week, I happened to ride that same train again, and lo and behold she rode again, and I hit up a little conversation with her. Call me shy but I've had the luck of the japanese densha otoko prior so as we started talking, I decided to press my luck and ask for her name, job, number, and a date - all of which she said yes to. So I got a date in 5 minutes on the train.
Later that night went out to the ice cream parlor (!) - found out she was slightly older than I, kept on talking and she invited me over to of all things, a birthday party she was holding for a niece. So next day I call at noon, she said she'd call back and here I worry as I don't get a call until 5pm inviting me over. So I go over and find that it's 12 x < 10-year old girls and and a few supervisory mothers around. I even get the kiddie assault from her son, a surprise to find out from the previous night. So I think that goes well, except for me being kinda awkward at times - I was trying to be more helpful than anything. So here I am all confused thinking WTF after these few days.
So I tried just the calling route - I called later that week to set up a movie date that weekend, she was indecisive, I said I would have to know later. So I called the next day - and here's where things drop off - I just get voicemail, and leave a message. I called on the Saturday, and same results. So I'm thinking "darn, got stood up". Wouldn't be thinking that my calls a week later would be getting the same result.
I guess being the densha otoko means you take your licks with your successes. I wrote a little note in a little Mother's Day card as a final "just making sure things are okay - what happened?" thing and mailed it off.
So here I am just pretty much left jilted and wondering - what's next. Moral of the story goes - the densha otoko doesn't always have a happy end.
TMI~~
Maybe more details later - but haha, advice is welcome
