Alex in Street Fighter 6: Combos Are Fine, Cousin Marriage? Not So Much

Alex looks strong, his pressure is good, and he seems fun in neutral. That part is solid. But I cannot ignore the story. I tried to laugh at the memes, but after a while it just feels awkward. The biggest issue for me is the timeline. If they met as adults, maybe people would not react this way. But knowing he was there when she was a baby creates a line that should not be crossed. I think Capcom did not expect this level of reaction. Now it is too late to change it. I will still lab his combos and try him in ranked, but I will treat the story like it does not exist. That is the only way I can enjoy the character.

I feel like this is one of those cases where writers think they are being bold, but they forget how players will feel. I do not need every character to have a complicated story. Sometimes simple is better. Alex was already liked by many people. He did not need this kind of twist.

For me, I separate everything very clearly. Gameplay is one thing, story is another. So I do not feel as bothered as others. Yes, it is strange, especially the part about knowing her as a baby. I agree that it creates discomfort. But when I play, I only see frame data, spacing, and timing. Alex feels great in that sense. He has strong tools and good damage. That is enough for me to use him. I think people who focus more on story will have a harder time. I understand their reaction. Still, I do think the internet is making it bigger with all the jokes and names. It keeps the issue alive. If people ignored it, maybe it would calm down faster.

I think this is one of the most awkward story decisions I have seen in a fighting game. I tried to defend it at first, but I could not find a good argument. The baby detail makes it very hard to accept. It changes the tone completely. I do not think this adds anything meaningful to the character. It only creates negative attention. That said, I still enjoy Alex as a fighter. His command grabs and pressure look very satisfying. I like simple but strong characters, and he fits that. So I will continue to use him. I just hope future updates focus more on gameplay and less on this kind of story. The game is still good, and I do not want this issue to take over everything.

This ruined my day. Alex was the cool, simple wrestler guy who just wanted to be champion. No complicated family drama needed. Now he’s got this incest plot forced on him? And they make him impregnate her? That’s not what fans wanted after waiting so long. Capcom dropped the ball hard. I love SF6 but this DLC feels tainted now. Might skip his story mode from now on.

Capcom really thought this was a good idea? Alex’s whole thing in SF3 was about honoring his adoptive dad’s wish and becoming a champion. They turn that into him hooking up with the daughter who was basically his sister? Second cousin or not, it’s still family. The community is right to be upset. This isn’t “mature storytelling”, it’s bad taste. Bring back classic Alex vibes in the next update or something, please.

Look I’m not defending it, it’s clearly weird and poorly thought out. But can we talk about how the rest of his kit is actually really strong? The command grab mixups, the new V-Trigger, the wall splat combos—everything else about Year 3 Alex is spot on. The ending sucks, no question, but I’m not letting one bad slideshow stop me from enjoying a character I waited 20+ years for. Just mute the story parts and keep playing. Capcom will probably ignore the backlash anyway.

This is straight disgusting and I’m done with Alex now. I defended him for years, said he was slept on, hyped his return like crazy. Then Capcom pulls this incest card in his own arcade ending? Marrying and impregnating your cousin who you grew up with as siblings? Nah that crosses every line. I don’t care how good his supers are, I’m not touching him anymore. They ruined a legend for no reason. Shame on them.

In real life, I would never support something like this. But in fiction, I have seen many strange relationships before, especially in anime and games. Still, this one feels different because of the baby part. That detail makes it harder to ignore. I actually like Alex’s design and moves in this version. He looks powerful and more complete compared to older games. I just wish his story stayed simple. He could have been a strong fighter with a clean background. Now every discussion turns into jokes or arguments. That is a waste. I will still play him, but I will not defend the story choice.
