Closed the thread and issued a PM warning or something to that effect. It's not like he's a repeat offender. It's the moderator's job to stem threads like that and cut them off before things get too nasty.

You didn't stop the fight, you just let it go too far. He shouldn't have been banned. If you want my opinion, I think you made a serious error in judgement, but I hope you learn from it and it leads you to being a better mod in the future.

I think that a two month ban is way too harsh. I've seen other members in this forum board that have committed much serious offenses and they just got out with a slap in the wrist and a smack in the butt. Sometimes, I do not even know anymore what was going on, but trying to be a good member here in HJU (and try not to offend anybody), I just keep my mouth shut. In my opinion, HJU delivered itself another big blow by banning Shougo/Tetsuya.

I also think that we need more moderators in the forum. As we grow everyday, its seems much harder for three people to look out for 300+ members. No offense to you Keith, Hariken and Rider Faiz, I know that you guys have lives outside HJU and couldn't "babysit" us 24/7. You guys are doing the very best in your ability to keep this forum sane. Like for example, that RiserGlen/Ryu Dairenjaa invasion that we had.....it took forever for those two to get banned. I believe that the promotion of one of two more members would be beneficial for the growth of this board.

But anyways, those are just my insights. Also, it might not matter anymore because the guy might not come back.

Hm... what I tried to do is let them be big boys. They are both adults. When I saw that it escalated I asked them both to stop respectively. After that Shougo decided to keep blasting on ahead. I told him to stop again and that there'd be consequences if he continued.

He continued and basically told me to **** off.

Thus the ban was held out.

What I don't like about closing threads is that I've seen it done too much before. I think you people are mature enough to show restraint and I'm even made happier when on your own your able to bring things to an end.

I don't like closing threads, cuz that means everyone else has to pay for what other people are doing wrong. Then nobody else gets to participate in the thread.

What I was hoping here was that they'd both be mature enough just to stand down on their own and the thread could go on, instead of me cutting it off, not trusting them to restrain themselves, and making it so that people who didn't break rules couldn't continue in the discussion if they wanted to.

He went on several long rants that personally insulted a fellow poster. He went on to say that because some of us respect August that we were kiss asses and brown nosing. I told him to stop and he continued, I told him again and what the consequeces were and he continued and basically flipped me off.

While you may think I take it personally, I don't really. Got more in my life going on than to worry about someone on the Intertron not liking me. But as an Admin trying to run a good place... what in the above paragraph doesn't earn a banning? I'm actually asking and not trying to drive my point home. Mr Brown and Mikey Joe.. and many others, yours are opinions and listen to and trust. So, if there's something I'm missing from the continual personal insults, to not heeding the request to stop, to then go on and not heed the warning... where did the poor judgement on my part come in?

If you guys say so.... if you see all the above and feel that doesn't warrant a banning, I'll give him a second go after a week's time has past. You can let me know here or if you're more comfortable, sling me a PM.

Well, I can't say too much, since I don't know August or Shougo well enough to say who was in the wrong first. But I think 2 months--it was 2,wasn't it?--for a first offense is a little strong.

As far as having more mods go, I think it's a good idea in case another blitzkreig from the dreaded Michael Braunstein comes up. Hariken's got late hours most of the time, so he's not always here, and Brent's in and out, but still steady.

I thought 2 months was going easy, actually. Depending on feedback, I'll see about shortening it.

As for more Mods... we'll see. It's not a title I hand out to just anyone and through time you gotta earn the spot through duty and character.

Where I in somebody's house, night club, or restraunt and I were to say this to the owner... I don't think I would expect that I would be able to stay or be asked to return.

Also, why do not we make a pinned thread that imposes a specific set of rules in the General Discussion forum about what kind of behavior is expected when you are in HJ? I know that these rules are alredy considered norms here and on other boards, but let's face it, we will do get some derelict members from time to time.

Good portion of that is being lazy.

But everyone around here knows you don't sling personal insults. That's a given. It was unecessarily told several times leading up to the banning.

After reading this I'm gonna have to side with the Boss man. He did right on this. There was no real reason to attack august in the manner seen. August gave clear concise logical responses. You can like Shin, but it won't change the facts.

On another note, I read while skimming that the V3 box is done. when can we expect that?
