4 Kids Ent. shows how "Low" they can get

Their market share is for 6-11 year olds. I am not sure if you understand that based on your statement above.

6-11 year olds still deserve a sense of consequences. They also deserve better than what 4kids is giving them. Animaniacs showed what could be made in the parameters of a show whose main audience was kids of that age. Freakazoid showed what a semi action series could do. Batman just set the bar on a whole new level. So don't tell me that 4kids is doing the best they can

*sigh*

I totally get what your saying and I agree. They do make some mistakes and don't really learn from them. IMO one of their biggest mistakes are promoting Timeslot changes, cause they never do.

Example: Yugioh 5D's first started airing at 10:30, 2 weeks later they switch the timeslot to 11:30 without any sort of promo stating the time change and believe it or not that damaged the show's ratings, among others.

OK that more the local affiliate station responsibility than 4Kids as a whole

Not really. It's 4kids job to do those things when it's their timeslots from 7 to 12. All of their wrappers and graphics are their job and so is their job to put it out there. They don't even attempt to promote the time on their website(s).

Loads of stations do it, and it's really messed up. In the past few years, children's TV has really gotten a bum rap. It's been treated like it doesn't matter anymore since children are such a maligned part of the consumer market. Networks like fox and other stations don't really want children's programming. Instead, they want to focus on promoting more of their news programs for the professionals, since saturday is now the sixth weekday.

Now, instead of looking at saturday morning cartoons as something that matters, these networks are either trying desperately to get rid of them or telling themselves that in order to justify them, the shows either have to be some sort of commercial tie in or be blatantly educational.

Now, this season we are seeing the return of shows that are trying; like the return of Biker Mice From Mars, Ninja Turtles Back to the Sewer, and a few other things, but I feel like saturday morning cartoons are really just damaged. They either need to go away for a while or the networks need to really give their programming blocks some thought and try to enter a renaissance of sorts of children's programming

I think one of the important things is to get Disney's kitcoms (kid's sitcoms) off the air and return Disney to what it did best, awesome animated adaptations of it's prior works. Disney desperately needs to make an animated adaptation to Kingdom Hearts.

I also think we need to return to something we haven't seen in years. This is something so long forgotten that I don't think kids even understand how cool it was. That's right, we need weekday afternoon blocks, not nickelodeon, cartoon network, or disney. We need some goddamn animation blocks. Those were so worth coming home for and if we could worry about generating four or five good shows to put on TV instead of making ten or twenty horrible shows, then we might get kids watching shows that matter.

And before you negative quitter's start on how we don't control TV and all that other stuff. We do control TV, because we can influence ratings if we got enough people together under a common goal. We've just become too desensitised to the abuses programming executives have laid upon us to notice when they're putting things on TV that are inherently bad for kids, or is there some inherent charm of courtroom shows that I don't know about? Also, many of our members are young. Given time, some could actually work their way up to positions where their decisions do directly influence TV programming. there's some food for thought

Children's TV has really gotten a bum rap because people don't really care about it anymore. Back in the day, saturday mornings used to be the **** and now all we have is CW4Kids, Cartoon Network and Toon Disney....Nicktoons doesn't count for anything other than Avatar and Overrated and the X-men.

The sad part is 4Kids is running out of shows now. Yu-Gi-Oh! is starting to come to an end, the current series only has 52 episodes instead of the regular 3 seasons. TMNT is on a the edge of retirement. They lost TS Spider-Man.

Going back to what you said about weekday animation blocks...FoxKids did it best. Disney is trying to do the same with Disney XD but It will never be the same.

Yeah but they're licensing out this block of shows to different local area stations, who to say they tell them they changed the shows around. If 4Kids don't know about it there nothing they can do to promote it. 4Kids isn't like Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon with a nationwide channel. They're reliant on the local affilates on getting these shows on the air. If that network decided to drop the cartoon block all together because they think something else will get better ratings or they're trying to save a little money is that 4Kids fault too? No it isn't, it was that channel decision and not theirs.

4Kids series? As far as I know, all they ever released were two volumes of Shaman King and Yuugiou uncut, they planned to follow them up, but nothing ever came.

They did release Ultraman Tiga uncut on DVD aswell.

That's the thing. They're isn't any blood, the edits they make are completely unnecessary.

Their One Piece edits were heavily edited in terms of blood and violence :eyebrow:

So picking his nose hairs is graphic and a guy getting shocked is bad?

See "Promotes ungentlemanly conduct". Soccer mom's get retarded sometimes and blame the cartoons when they see their kids doing something unsanitary like eating food the fell on the floor, leaving trash everywhere, picking their nose, etc. There will always be at least one complaint.

Hey knock it off! This aint a fight. Cool it.

Well, I've noticed and CN doesn't really do it. I think 4Kids is scared to not outside of the Soccor mom rules.

The whole nose picking thing is not only cause of Soccor Mom's but that 5D's is geared to a older age group than any other Yu-Gi-Oh series, which is why people was pissed off at some other their edits cause it wasn't for little kids but It goes to show you the difference between Japan and America's kid shows.

I blame the networks too. Part of my previous argument was their attitude of treating saturday like an extra business day for their news programs

It's sad cause the things that they edit in their Cartoons and Animes always pop up in Live Action shows like PR or KR.
