3DTV

Forever Knight

Eye See You
So this thing is finally out according to my latest Best Buy flyer and it looks pretty cool.

Anyone here shelling out the $4 grand for it?.

I had some questions regarding the 3DTV that maybe someone here could answer.

#1) I notice only one movie being promoted for the release (Monsters v. Aliens) and the packaging says 3-D Blu-ray, Does this mean Blu-ray is "outdated" now?.

#2) Can only 3-D Blu-ray movies be viewed in 3-D on the tv or say I buy the tv can I pop in one of the other blu-rays and it will be in 3-D aswell as long as I have those 3-D glasses on?.

#3) Are any other 3-D Blu-ray movies released or scheduled to be released soon?.

I am very interested in this, especially after watching my Friday the 13th Part III in 3-D on my HDTV, it was fun as hell and it's probally nothing compared to the 3DTV quality.

Some 3D technology is very headache inducing, while other implementations are not. Depth Perception is pretty amazing technology when used correctly. When I saw Coroline3D in the theater last year I was blown away by the 3D effects. they were simply astonishing. Also there are 2 3D videogames that I feel just wouldn't be the same without true 3D, Tetris3D for Win95/VirtualBoy and Red Alert for Virtual Boy. Both of these games has an incredible submersion that sucks you into to the environment and at times you feel like you really can reach out and touch whats in front of you. I've played Tetris3D in 2D before, and it is much much harder to play! To the point where it's not even fun to me. I can't wait for decent 3D headsets to come out for PCs. Nvidia has one out now but it's a super cheap, low quality implementation.

Since LunaTrigger works at Sears and they sell these I can clue ya in on it lol

Oh it's worse than that. Without bundle sales you're looking at $3299 for the TV, $300 for the Blu Ray 3D player, and $149 for EACH pair of wireless 3D glasses.

No, in fact Blu Ray will be replacing DVD in about 2 years. i.e. No more DVDs. Blu Ray 3D players are just a more fancy Blu Ray player but it doesn't outdate it.

No, the player AND TV can play non-3D things. Regular Blu Rays will not appear 3D, and neither will non-3D TV programming.

There are TONS schedules. Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, pretty much anything that's coming out in 3D in theaters will get a 3D Blu Ray release. Problem is, while it's a lot, it's still not enough IMO to warrant paying that much for a 3D TV

The real downside to the TV, after demo-ing one, is that unless you sit pretty far back, the 3D effect is pretty meh. Not to mention even when the 3D *IS* working well the backgrounds and non-in-focus-characters are blurry as hell. Perhaps that's something that will be fixed once they tweak the technology a bit more. But as of now, it's definitely not worth it unless you're ridiculously rich and just feel like blowing your money. You can get a TV same size, same quality WITHOUT the 3D for $800 so yeh... not worth it.

Thanks FQ!.

I'm gonna go test it out on monday when I got blu-ray shopping.

they wont be re-released. There is an option on the TV that will just make them APPEAR 3D
