34,000!

The economy over here is still in the shits right now. And here in Tokyo, there's unemployed people left and right. I've seen a few "salarymen" sitting in a restauraunt or in a park just lookin' at the ground. So when you see people like this lose everythin', they just kinda give up on life all together...

A couple of weeks ago, a guy was on the news (which was being shot live at the scene) for robbing a bank cause his company went bankrupt and he lost everythin'. The cops cornered him with SWAT teams and everythin' and he had no where to go so he turned a gun on himself and ended it all. And then the news washed it all over by cutting to a variety show.

It just kinda seems that Japan's a little too peaceful that when something out of the ordinary happens, the news jumps all over it, but when it gets TOO crazy they censor it out so that people can carry on easier.

Kinda both good AND bad in certain ways since it gives Japanese people a wake up call about reality but at the same time, who wants to think about that stuff all the time?

I just read in TIME Magazine that last year, 34,000 Japanese people committed suicide. It must be a really depressing and stressful life they live over there.

:O_O::O_O: ARE YOU SERIOUS! :O_O::O_O:

Im kinda worried about my friends right now down in japan. Those same girls from my I have a girl problem thread? They went back to japan, they didn't want to leave but had no choice, hope they're doing okay :(

bah, my parents always remind me that living in Japan can be very stressful whenever I say I wanna live there and they know I'm the kind of person who can't take stress.
