The reason Saban start losing money after Lost Galaxy was because the remove the one thing that made PR it's own show over Super Sentai and that was an on going story. It didn't matter as most of the cast from In Space was in Turbo, but once they went to a pure Sentai like set up where each season they restarted everything, it was harder for fans to get to know the characters and because of that lot of fans left. Some grew up too and moved on with their lives.
I don't think Disney hates the fan base or Power Rangers, because if they did, why did they by them to bring with?
Personally when people say that if Power Rangers made more money and had better ranting then Disney would put more money into it, well this is what is called a risk. As of now, Disney is not taking a risk with Power Rangers, they are playing it safe. In order for them to turn a profit they must put out something the fanbase likes and will buy into.
Some may believe that Disney doesn't care about the fan base, but the only thing keeping the PR fanbase afloat are those people who grew up with the show from the start who are all in their 20s now.
Quick poll how many people on this board are Power Ranger fans that are with in the target Disney is going for? Which is like 13 and under I believe. Not many is there, and anyone who is I bet they love the early shows and/or Dino Thunder. So yeah, Disney should take a risk, after all really thing about this. This is Disney after all, they make billions each year on a number of their products, I understand they have to turn a profit with it. But can you say that anyone has liked the product they have given us?
No, PROO being 32 episodes is not taking a risk, if they had made it 40, that be a risk because the episodes would be slower in the telling and more time for building up the plots and characters would happen. If they put more money into the scripts and taking time to do simple stuff like reshooting a shot that can't work with out cropping (we all know what I'm talking about) along with other things. Took the time to make the season stand on its own, where no one would even combare it to the sentai counterpart and if they saw a rise of people watching it and buying into the product, you have to keep going.
I mean to make money you have to spend money. I mean come on, think of the rate that Saban was going down with Power Rangers, to the point they had to sell out to Disney. At the point they sold out, what did they have? Power Ranger and a bunch of other shows that all tanked out. Its no shock they went under like they did, but Disney. I don't think they would go broke if they gave us 38 well done episodes, I don't think that too much to ask.
