1UP Show: Street Fighter IV

seen it and personally I feel like slapping most if not all the 1up crew.

-'Soul Caliber is a more techincal fighter' WTF? SC is Not even in the SAME PLANET as SF as far as complexity. Hell Weaponlord is STILL more complex then SC is.

-'There have never been juggles in a main SF game before'- Again WTF. Did you not play any of the Alpha games? Those especially A3 are LOADED with juggles, you twit.

I could go on but you get the point. Unless they were relaying direct info from Capcom... Not an informative story or report by them.

1) Street Fighter is not complex and is definitely not more complex than soul calibur. You want complex move sets you go to KoF and that's not biased talking. All of SF moves are all the fucking same. Down Forward, Down Back, Down Hold Up, Back Hold Forward. Super Move? Do their regular moves but TWICE. That's not complexity. Im not dissing SF Im just saying dont pretend SF is something more than it really is. But I agree, SC is not complex, it's a button masher fighting game. Tekken is a technical fighter. But they are right to assume SF is not a technical fighter. It just isnt. Anyone can button mash through it. You would be hard pressed to button mash through a KoF game or a Tekken Game. (btw Im not endorsing Tekken. I hate that damn game.)

The only time I would call SF a technical fighting game is SF3. Because of the parry system mostly. It started on the verge of becoming technical.

2) Exactly. Exactly. WTF were these guys on?? Its like they picked the one dude who didnt play SF ever.

No, SF AND KOF are actually fairly complex compared to the crapfest Namco has farted out with Tekken and SC. I defy anyone to go play ST on Xbox live and try button mashing your way to victory.

SF3 the begining of SF being a techincal fighter? Guh. Go play Super Turbo and then get back to me on that one. Or play Alpha 2 and get back to me.

I've played them all. I will give you Alpha series for introducing Air blocking but thats it. When all the move sets are the damn same and all super moves can be pulled off by Double-Regular Move then no, it's not a technical fighter. (Alpha was my favorite series of SF for a few reasons. Especially Alpha 3)

In fact, the way you dismiss Tekken completely shows you're biased. Tekken is technical, 100%. For you to deny that is just being ignorant. (no offense JABR.)

Turbo? How is Turbo technical fighting? No. Go play KoF 9 or 10 then tell me SF Turbo is technical. SF Turbo doesnt know the meaning of the damn word. You need to fill me in on what made it technical.

KoF had air blocking, rolling (the best evasion maneuver) and almost all the super moves could not be "guessed at" unless they were a seasoned KoF player. You always had to look up the move set. And they were all Curve-based d-pad moves. Half circle, forward quarter circle, this and that.

You wont convince me that SF is technical. Parry and Airblocking helped it become technical in SF3 but no. Turbo? Alpha? Those were not technical at all. Espcially alpha. All the super moves could be button mashed out. EASILY. All of them! You cant button mash super moves in KoF. (not for 99% of them) And you certainly cant button mash **** for Tekken.

I've grown up playing both SF and KoF to know what Im talking about from my own perspective. Dont tell me I dont know what Im talking about. You're not the only one who played Street Fighter, JABR. You're not some gaming god who knows everything just because YOU played it and have a different opinion.

this just might be the game that'll get me back to playing Street Fighter.
The only Street Fighter I can tolerate is SF2. Third Strike wasn't to my liking.

Garen, SF stopped being a game for casual fans around the time of CE and Hyper Fighting. If you've played the games as you say, then you know that.

Around that time it went from being "here let me play my buddy and kill some time" to "OMG I just owned by a 14year old".

You cite additional features like Air blocking and whatnot as evidence of the game being 'technical' well that's BS on a stick. Before those features were even thought of, you had people looking for and finding frame rate data, and hitbox size.

I guess we approach this differently. You cite things like Air blocking, Supers, etc... as evidence of a game being 'technical' and I cite the way people approached and played the game.

and Tekken.. Sorry, I think the late great Battle Arena Toshiden was more *technical* then the King of the Iron Fist tournament. Tekken's big advantage was how graphically superior it was to Toshiden and it was much more accessible to people then Virtua Fighter is.
