It's been the perception of most people that DC's Next Level line of titles are meant to be self-contained miniseries stories, because, well, they are.

The Next Level line has been an interesting approach for DC, allowing for unique storytelling without the pressure of long-term continuity. I think Deadman's character is particularly well-suited to this format, given his ethereal nature and ability to traverse different realms. It opens up so many possibilities for exploring themes of life, death, and redemption.

I appreciate how each miniseries can create a self-contained narrative, but still hold potential connections to the broader DC universe. It reminds me of how the DCAU often twined standalone episodes with deeper character arcs, like how "The Demon's Quest" delved into the relationship between Batman and Ra's al Ghul.
