Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Reveals Itself

Looks like the hype train is really rolling for the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy. The anticipation for the final installment is palpable, but I can't help but think about how this franchise tends to overshadow tons of great indie titles out there.

While we're all counting down the days, anyone been playing any smaller games that capture that adventurous spirit? I’ve been obsessed with a game on itch.io called "Celestial Navigations," which offers a unique blend of exploration and narrative, in a much more digestible package. Just curious if you've got any indie gems to recommend before we get into this big release!

Vincent finally getting real spotlight is something I have been waiting for for years. In the original game he always felt like a hidden character with a lot of unused potential. Turning into monsters in full combat looks like they are really committing to his concept now. That alone makes this game stand out for me. I do not even care as much about the open world stuff yet, I just want to see how far they push his transformations. If they do it right, he could end up being one of the most fun characters in the whole remake trilogy.

The High Wind being fully controllable is honestly the biggest thing for me. I remember just watching it in the older games and wishing I could actually fly it myself. Being able to drop anywhere on the world map sounds like they are finally going for full scale exploration instead of segmented zones. That is a huge change in design. It makes me wonder how towns and side areas will work though. If everything is too spread out it could feel empty. Still, just the idea of flying around Gaia in real time feels like something fans have wanted forever.

The Weapons returning in full size actually gave me nostalgia. I remember trying so many times to beat Emerald Weapon and just getting destroyed no matter what I did. It sounds like they are thinking about difficulty this time too, which is interesting. Modern games usually avoid that kind of frustration, but these fights were kind of iconic because of how hard they were. If they bring that back but balance it well, it could be some of the most memorable boss fights in the series. I just hope it is not all visual and they keep the challenge intact.

Overall I am interested but also watching carefully. The ideas are strong: Vincent transformations, full airship control, open world Gaia, and returning Weapons. That is a lot of fan expectations in one package. The challenge is execution. If they balance exploration with story pacing well, it could end up being the strongest entry in the trilogy. If not, it could feel like too many systems fighting each other. Either way, it is definitely one of those releases that people will be talking about for a long time after it drops.
