I’m Filipino and seeing our folklore like the manananggal actually shown in a big DreamWorks film feels amazing. The story about two best friends who might forget each other hits different. I already know I’m dragging my whole family to the theater on opening day. The animation looks colorful and the humor seems right. Really happy they picked real Filipino voices too. Can’t wait.

Okay but why does this feel like it’s gonna make me cry in the cinema? Two girls losing their memories of each other while stuck on a magic island? That’s heavy. I love how they mixed funny moments with Raww the Weredog and serious friendship stuff. Filipino myths in Hollywood level animation is something I never thought I’d see. September 25 is marked on my calendar already.

Watching Jo and Raissa slowly forget each other while stuck on that island feels like a symbol of the friendships we lose every time we grow older. Life pulls people apart with moves, new schools, new jobs, and suddenly you can’t remember all the little things that made you close. The manananggal and magic stuff is cool, but the real scare is how memories fade without you even noticing. It’s sad but true. Makes me want to call my old friends tonight. DreamWorks really put something deep in there. I’m definitely watching this.

Looks colorful and fun. I like adventure stories with strong girl friendship at the center. Adding Filipino folklore makes it stand out from other animated movies. The villain design is interesting and the weredog dude seems funny. I’ll probably take my niece, she loves anything with magic portals.

The emotional twist got me. Best friends slowly forgetting why they’re close while trying to escape? That’s deep for a kids movie but I’m here for it. H.E.R. and Liza Soberano as the leads sound perfect. The whole cast is stacked. DreamWorks did their thing again with the visuals. I need to see this.

Finally a movie that puts Filipino creatures on screen properly. Tikbalang hiding in the jungle? Yes please. The two girls starting as normal high school grads and then falling into this world feels fresh. I like that it’s not just action, there’s real heart about friendship. Animation style looks smooth too. Counting down the months.

As a Filipino I feel emotional reading this. Seeing the sun symbol in the trailer must have been special for Liza. H.E.R. sharing a piece of her childhood through this film is beautiful. The story about best friends possibly losing their memories sounds interesting. I like that they set it in the 90s to bring that nostalgic feeling. This September I am definitely going to the cinema for this one.
