Crunchyroll has put out an updated list of its planned physical releases for the rest of this month. It’s a packed Halloween with 16 titles slated for release, including Oddtaxi: The Complete Season which was put out yesterday. The biggest date of the month is October 21, when the company will be putting out TEN disc sets at once, including all three seasons of Overlord, a super deluxe limited edition of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1 Part 2, two One Piece bundles, the complete My Hero Academia Season 6 in one package, and the latest release of Robotech: The Macross Saga. We do have to point out that half of these are exclusive to Wal-Mart. Hope you have one near you! The Frieren release is one of the more elaborate pacakges Crunchyroll has put together. Ten releases on October 21 are a lot to handle. I am happy to see My Hero Academia Season 6 collected in one package. It makes sense for people who want to avoid buying individual volumes. I do not have a Walmart nearby, so the exclusives are a problem for me. I understand why they make exclusive deals, but it feels unfair to people who live far from those stores. Still, the SteelBook editions for Overlord and Robotech look strong. I might wait for other sellers to get them.

Sometimes stores get items that are hard to find elsewhere. I understand why retailers want exclusives, but it is not convenient for everyone. I live in a rural area, so traveling to a Walmart is not easy. I hope these titles will be available later from other retailers. Otherwise, I might miss some important releases like the One Piece bundles or My Hero Academia.

I do not collect physical anime often, but the list this month is impressive. Titles like Overlord, Frieren, and Mushoku Tensei show that Crunchyroll continues to focus on popular series. Even for someone who watches mostly online, it is interesting to see the effort in packaging. I might consider buying one or two sets as gifts for friends who are big fans. It is good to have options.
