Rian Johnson‘s Knives Out is one of my favorite movies…the way it subverts and defies expectations is just brilliant. And it introduced the detective Benoit Blanc, who has gone on to star in the sequels. Unfortunately since they’re produced by Netflix you will never get the chance to see them in theaters…or will you? The streamer only allowed the previous film, Glass Onion, to play in cinemas for one week. We can confirm there will also be a limited theatrical run for the third film announced today, but this time you’ll have two weeks to catch it…it opens on November 26 and plays until December 12. And this is before the film appears on Netflix, not at the same time. The third Benoit Blanc mystery is called “Wake Up Dead Man” and this time, the inciting murder takes place inside an old church. It wouldn’t be a Blanc mystery without a long list of susepcts so let’s meet them all. “After a sudden and seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, the lack of an obvious suspect prompts local police chief Geraldine Scott (Kunis) to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a mystery that defies all logic,” says […]

I am very happy that Rian Johnson is making another Knives Out film. For me, Benoit Blanc is the kind of detective we do not see often anymore. He is clever, but he also makes the story fun to follow. The idea of setting the new murder inside an old church feels very refreshing. Churches already have history, secrets, and different types of people who gather there. I also think the cast is excellent. Glenn Close as a church lady sounds perfect because she can play strong and suspicious characters. I will definitely try to see this during the two-week cinema release. Netflix movies usually disappear quickly, but this one deserves a big screen.

I am excited but also a little frustrated. Two weeks in theaters is still too short for a movie like this. Knives Out films are popular, so I do not understand why Netflix keeps limiting their run. They could easily make more money if they let it stay longer. As for the story, the church setting makes me curious. Religion, power, and politics always create tension, and these films depend on tension. I just hope the script is as sharp as the first Knives Out and not as stretched as Glass Onion sometimes felt.

Honestly, I like the idea of another Knives Out movie, but I do not really care much about the theater run. I prefer watching at home. For me, Netflix is enough. I can pause, rewind, and enjoy at my own pace. What interests me most is the cast. Jeremy Renner and Kerry Washington are strong choices. I want to see how they interact with Daniel Craig. The mystery inside a church sounds unusual, so I will give it a try on Netflix when it drops.

The title “Wake Up Dead Man” feels a little strange at first, but I think it fits the church theme. I enjoy the way Rian Johnson always mixes humor with serious murder investigation. The previous films had social commentary, so I wonder if this one will talk about faith, community, and hypocrisy. The characters seem carefully chosen to represent different sides of society: the politician, the lawyer, the author, the cellist, the priest. It feels like a stage play with many voices. I think it will be very entertaining to watch Blanc move through this setting.

For me, the most exciting part is Glenn Close. She is an icon and always gives her characters depth. I am also interested in Josh Brolin as the monsignor. He has a powerful presence, and putting him in a church role will make him both respected and suspicious. I think this cast is the strongest of the trilogy so far. I will go to the cinema, even if it is only for two weeks. These mysteries deserve the big screen experience.

I think Netflix is testing the waters again. First one week, now two weeks. Maybe in the future they will go for a full theatrical run. That would be better for everyone. As for the story, I feel like the church location gives it a gothic atmosphere. It is different from the rich family mansion or the Greek island we saw before. It could bring a darker tone, which I think is good for the third movie. I am looking forward to seeing how Blanc handles a mystery that feels more traditional in style.

Honestly, I am not sure if the church setting will work. I liked the modern setting in Glass Onion, because it reflected how people live today with technology and politics. Moving the story into a church might make it feel too old-fashioned. But I do trust Rian Johnson. He has surprised me before. Maybe the church is just the backdrop, and the real story will be about human greed, ambition, and secrets, which always work.

The limited theater run annoys me, because where I live, small films like this rarely even get shown. I know Knives Out is popular, but Netflix does not treat it like a big event. If Disney or Warner had this franchise, they would make it a huge thing. That being said, I will still watch it on streaming. I just think the film industry would be stronger if these kinds of movies had proper theatrical support.
