Did anyone catch the review for Alex Cox's 'Dead Souls'?

Looks like Alex Cox is at it again with 'Dead Souls', and the early reviews aren't holding back. Variety's review calls it an "arid didactic Western doodle" and highlights the puzzling direction of his career. The film might start as a mystery, but it seems to lose its way quickly.

the only real mystery is why Alex Cox tied his film career to a stone marked "retro Marxist Western punk pretension"

Sounds like it could be a wild ride, but not in a good way. Anyone else planning to check it out despite the mixed reviews?

Cox definitely has a knack for pushing boundaries, but it sounds like 'Dead Souls' might be more polarizing than entertaining. I can see where the "retro Marxist Western punk pretension" vibe could turn some viewers off. Still, sometimes those strange directions lead to surprising gems. Have you seen his earlier work like 'Repo Man'? That film has its own unique flavor, and even if 'Dead Souls' doesn't land well, it could still be an interesting watch for the sheer creativity. Are you thinking of giving it a shot just to see how it plays out?
