Taki Udon is a retro gaming YouTuber who founded his own clone console company last year. He’s introducing a new line of machines called “Retro Remake,” starting with a fully functional, FPGA-powered PlayStation clone called the SuperStation One. Though PS1 clones aren’t rare anymore, this part is: the SuperStation is starting at a price of just $150. For an FPGA machine — a more accurate form of console cloning than emulation — $150 is pretty darn cheap. However, the price will only apply to the first batch of them, and only to preorders — which open tomorrow. That doesn’t leave a lot of time to ponder on the decision, but…. The SuperStation is based around open-source MiSTer FPGA code, which means it will probably be able to play games from more systems than just the original PlayStation. Physically, though, it’s built for those whose favorite console is the PS1 — it has ports for PS1 memory cards and controllers, as well as more modern functions and conveniences like USB, NFC, wifi, Bluetooth, and SNAC support.
