Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters Returns February 27

Apple TV is one of the remaining bastions of Prestige Television and doesn’t usually go for licensed IP mega-budgeted spectacles…except in this case. Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters, a TV spinoff of Legendary and WB’s Monsterverse movies, is heading into its second season with a premise much like its first: these are people hired to monitor all the kaiju on Earth, and this is what they do. They look rather uneasy throughout today’s released trailer though. They look at obscured footage of something moving in the deep sea and mutter about how it’s their fault. We have to wonder what they did that’s indirectly — or directly, depending — responsible for this big fish’s existence. The trailer doesn’t let us see much of it, with direct glimpses limited to its eyeball that has two irises (does that annoy anyone like it does me? Probably not, but it makes no sense if you think about it. Two light holes would make the eye not function correctly at all). For now, until they can get a better look, they’re calling this beast Titan X. “In addition to Kong, season two will feature Godzilla and introduce a new Titan: the enigmatic Titan X, now […]

Titan X looks like a serious upgrade from the first season’s creatures. I like that the show is making new monsters feel like actual forces of nature instead of just giant animals. The mystery around it is what interests me the most. I want to see humans struggle with something they don’t understand, not just monsters fighting each other. I’m also glad the show didn’t ditch the original cast. The Russells and others make the human story compelling enough that I care about their survival. I hope the writing balances character arcs with monster action. If they get that right, this season could be even better than the movies in some ways. It feels like Apple TV is taking monster storytelling seriously, and I respect that. I’ll definitely watch the premiere.

I can’t stop thinking about the visuals. Titan X breaking the ocean surface with bioluminescence is going to look incredible on Apple TV. Even though the double iris thing bothers me slightly, the scale and design of the monsters make up for it. I’m glad the show isn’t just copying movie tropes—they seem to want something cinematic but with more focus on human reactions. That’s what I appreciated about season one, and I hope season two keeps that focus. I’m curious to see how Kurt Russell’s character navigates the growing threat while balancing the responsibilities of Monarch. Weekly episodes are smart because it gives time for speculation and theories. I can already imagine forums lighting up with Titan X guesses before the premiere.

I like that they’re giving Godzilla, Kong, and Titan X all the spotlight. Too many shows would have focused on just one monster, but this feels like a proper ensemble of kaiju. The human characters are important, too, since they show what it’s like to live in a world with these threats. I do worry about Titan X’s design though—two irises seem unnecessary. It makes me question the logic behind the monsters. Even so, the trailer looks promising, and the production quality is clearly high. Weekly episodes give time to think and speculate, which is fun. I’m ready to dive back into Monarch’s world and see what this new season delivers.

Kong and Godzilla on TV together feels unreal. Titan X looks like it could steal the spotlight from both of them, and that mystery around its origin is really intriguing. The two-irised eyeball is odd, though—it’s distracting when trying to imagine the monster functioning realistically. Seeing the humans react to such a massive threat is what makes Monarch unique compared to other monster shows. With Apple TV’s production quality, this season should feel cinematic even on a small screen. Weekly episodes will give time to absorb the story and speculate about Titan X’s abilities.

There’s something about Titan X’s bioluminescence that makes it instantly memorable. The ocean rising behind it is an incredible visual concept. The cast mix looks strong, especially with Kurt Russell leading the group. Season one’s human-focused approach worked well, and keeping that while expanding the monster roster should make for a satisfying second season. It seems like the show is trying to balance suspense, action, and mystery, which is not easy for kaiju stories. Hopefully, Titan X isn’t just a CGI spectacle and actually feels like a living force.

Watching the trailer made it clear that Titan X will dominate the story this season. The glowing, ocean-rising visuals are striking, and the humans’ reactions make the threat feel real. Double iris eyes are a bit distracting, but the overall design is memorable. Returning cast members provide familiarity, while new characters should spice things up. Weekly episode releases build anticipation and allow fans to theorize. Apple TV seems to be balancing suspense, character focus, and monster action well.

Mothra fan here, It would be incredible if Mothra finally made her global debut in this series. Titan X looks amazing, and having Kong and Godzilla together is great, but Mothra deserves a moment too. I’ve always loved her as this majestic, mystical force, and seeing her interact with these massive threats on a worldwide scale would be amazing. Even though she’s not in this season yet, the way Titan X is teased makes me hopeful that future seasons could introduce her properly. The Russells and the human focus are cool, but part of me keeps imagining Mothra swooping in with her wings glowing, making everything feel even bigger and more magical. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Apple TV eventually gives her a chance to shine alongside the other Titans.
