The movie was simple, but I liked it a lot. I liked how they turned a failed plan into something useful. I liked how they worked together as a team, even when things didn’t go as planned. It made me think that sometimes life gives you something unexpected, and maybe that’s not so bad. Also, now I always want fried chicken when I watch Korean movies. It looks too good. This movie was really fun and had a lot of heart.

I actually went a step further after watching Extreme Job—I tried making fried chicken at home using a recipe inspired by the movie. I know they never gave exact instructions, but I looked up a bunch of Korean-style fried chicken methods and tried to recreate what Detective Ma might have made. Double-frying was key, and I added a soy garlic glaze like the kind you see in Korean restaurants. It turned out really crispy and flavorful, though not restaurant level, of course. Watching the movie again while eating the chicken made the whole experience feel connected. I think that’s part of why this movie stands out—it’s not just about watching the story but also feeling like you’re part of it. Now every time I crave Korean fried chicken, I think of those detectives sweating in the kitchen while trying to stay undercover. It added a real, personal memory to a funny film.

To me, Extreme Job represents what Korean cinema does so well—blending genres. You’ve got this high-energy action layered with humor, and then, unexpectedly, it touches on teamwork, disappointment, and second chances. I liked how Chief Go never gave up, even when everyone seemed to have moved on. That hit me. We all know someone like that—or we are that person. And Detective Ma making legendary chicken? It was funny, but also kind of inspiring. Sometimes the skill you think is unrelated ends up saving the day. It was wholesome, chaotic, and oddly motivational.

Extreme Job was one of the first Korean movies I watched, and it totally changed how I viewed Korean cinema. I didn’t expect something that looked like a goofy crime comedy to also feel so professional and polished. The editing was tight, and the timing of the jokes was spot-on. I admired how the film managed to switch tones without losing control—one moment, you’re laughing about fried chicken, and the next, you’re holding your breath during a fight scene. That takes real talent. Also, Jae-Hoon was low-key my favorite. His quiet strength made him easy to overlook at first, but then he grows on you.

I get that they had to catch the bad guy. But I really wanted some of the fried chicken. LOL. Korean fried chicken is better than American fried chicken.

Funny how life throws curveballs like in “Extreme Job” where a narc squad accidentally creates a chicken empire. I had a similar twist when job hunting abroad. Wasn’t even considering Georgia at first, but then I found this and things shifted. The listings in Tbilisi were way more diverse than I expected, and the process felt pretty smooth. Sometimes the most random discoveries turn out to be exactly what you need.
Extreme Job was such a fun surprise!
