The BBC sitcom Ghosts has garnered significant popularity, partly due to its casting of several actors from the children’s program Horrible Histories. This connection to historical figures works well, as Ghosts features characters from different eras, despite being aimed at a more adult audience. The show’s success since its 2019 debut led to a US adaptation on CBS in 2021, which also proved to be a hit. The original British Ghosts concluded in 2023 after three seasons, each typically consisting of six episodes. In contrast, the American version, currently in its fourth season, has already produced more episodes, averaging around 20 per season (with a shortened second season due to pandemic restrictions). While both versions begin with the same basic premise, they have diverged into separate narratives, offering viewers two distinct but enjoyable experiences. Ghosts UK Season 5 Ghosts US Season 4 The British Ghosts concluded its run on a high note, leaving viewers with a sense of both satisfaction and a touch of wistfulness. Its strong writing and ensemble cast suggested the potential for many more seasons, but the creators opted for a shorter, more focused narrative arc. While some die-hard fans of the original series remain […]

As much as I want to watch the French and German versions, I cant watch them because they are not in a streaming service with English subs.

Okay, as a US fan, I gotta say, I get the hesitation from UK "Ghosts" fans about our version. I was a little skeptical myself at first! But honestly, I think it deserves a chance. It's not trying to be the UK version. It's not a carbon copy, beat for beat. Yes, the core concept is the same – a couple inherits a haunted house, hilarity ensues – but the humor, the characters, and the storylines have really diverged. It's become its own thing. Think of it like a cover song. It's the same basic tune, but the arrangement, the vocals, the whole vibe is different.

The US "Ghosts" definitely has a broader, more accessible style of comedy, which I can understand some UK fans might find a bit too…well, American sitcom-y. But there's still clever writing and genuinely heartwarming moments. And the characters, while inspired by the originals, have their own distinct personalities and backstories. They're not just cheap imitations. Plus, the longer season format allows for more exploration of certain characters and relationships, even if the individual episodes are shorter.

I know some people are super attached to the original, and that's totally valid. But I think if you go into the US version with an open mind, not expecting it to be a carbon copy, you might be pleasantly surprised. It's a different show, with a different feel, but it's still "Ghosts" at its heart. Give it a shot! You might just find yourself enjoying it for what it is.

Wait, hold on. Scouts being associated with Nazis in Germany? That's why their arrow-victim ghost is a teacher? Wow. That's…I never would have guessed. That's actually kind of shocking, and it makes so much sense now! It's fascinating how historical context can shape a show like this. I mean, here in the US, we think of scouts as wholesome, apple-pie Americana. To think it could have such different connotations elsewhere is mind-blowing. And combining all those characters – the scout leader, Kitty, Flower – into one female teacher? That's a really interesting choice. It adds another layer to the character and probably opens up some unique comedic and dramatic possibilities. It's amazing how much thought and cultural sensitivity goes into these adaptations.

The German version sounds particularly interesting with the combined scoutmaster/other characters. I can see how the history of scouting in Germany might make separate characters a bit tricky. The Marie Antoinette-esque ghost in the French version? Genius! That's such a brilliant way to combine those two character types. I'm already picturing the comedic possibilities. I really hope they all become available for viewing in the US.

Brazil needs its own "Ghosts"! We have such a rich and vibrant culture, full of folklore and legends. Think about a ghost of a Pomba Gira, or a mischievous Curupira hiding in the Amazon. We could even have a ghost of a famous Carnival dancer! Our version would be full of music, vibrant colors, and a touch of magical realism. It would be a party in a haunted house!

As a die-hard "Ghosts" fan, I'm thrilled to see the show's global reach. It's amazing how this simple premise of a haunted house can be so adaptable and resonate with so many different audiences. The detail about the German versions' characters is fascinating. I love learning about the cultural nuances they've incorporated. It makes me appreciate the show even more. I'm really hoping someone picks up these international versions for streaming in the US.

Pat and Pete were always my absolute favorites! Their whole "we're so enthusiastic, even in death" vibe was just consistently hilarious. So, I'm really curious about this Svenni character in the German version. I'm curious how different the story is after making the character female? That's a really interesting twist. I wonder how that changes the dynamic. Pat and Pete's humor was so much about their slightly awkward, overly eager masculinity. How will that translate to a female character? I'm genuinely intrigued to see how they handle it. It could be brilliant, or it could be a complete disaster. There's no way to know until I see it.

Mexico deserves its own "Ghosts" series! Our Day of the Dead traditions and rich folklore provide the perfect backdrop for a show like this. Imagine a house full of ghosts celebrating Día de Muertos every night, with ofrendas and mariachi music. It would be a vibrant and heartwarming celebration of life and death, with a healthy dose of humor.
