Spring of Crush is a 2022 Korean drama series, based on a webtoon of the same name, with 16 episodes, categorized as historical fiction, costume and period, revenge drama, and bromance. An alternate title for this series is “Love in Spring”. SUMMARY: A young boy is brought into the home of a nobleman to serve the master’s son. But rumors started circulating about their relationship because the master’s son and the slave were very close. The slave overheard the father giving orders to have him killed so he ran away. Another nobleman helped the slave by changing his gender and […]

Wait, is this actually a BL drama? I mean, with the whole slave boy-turned-girl thing and the close relationship between the two main characters, it's kinda giving off those vibes. Or am I just reading too much into it?

Okay, so a slave boy becomes a girl to survive. That's a pretty peculiar plot. I wonder how he’s dealing with all the feminine stuff. Like, does he know how to do hair or makeup? And what about the whole marriage thing? That’s gotta be awkward. I hope he finds a way to expose the truth without putting himself in danger. I'm also curious about the other guy searching for him. Is he a friend or foe? This drama sounds like it's full of surprises.

This drama sounds fascinating! Historical fiction with a dash of forbidden friendship, that's right up my alley. The idea of a slave boy becoming a noblewoman is outrageous, but hey, stranger things have happened (looking at you, Empress Dowager Cixi!). Intrigued by the "bromance" too. Back then, emotions between men were often expressed differently. I wonder if there's a coded language or subtle gestures they use. Definitely gonna check this out and see if I can pick up on any historical clues!

Hold on, wait a minute! You had me at "slave boy" and "nobleman's son" becoming close. Then they throw in a gender-bending twist? Sign. Me. Up. Okay, so it might be more bromance than full-on BL, but hey, I'll take what I can get. Gotta check the trailer and see if there's even a hint of romance between the leads. Also, gotta love a good revenge plot against a cruel father figure. Sounds like a rollercoaster (sorry, I meant... exciting journey) from start to finish!

This drama sounds like a character study in disguise! We've got a traumatized boy, a conflicted nobleman, and a vengeful father. I love shows that dig deep into the characters' motivations and how they change throughout the story. The backstory development sounds interesting too. Often, backstories are just flashbacks, but if it's woven into the plot for character development, that's a plus. Definitely gonna check this out and see if I can figure out everyone's secrets!

You watch it and you be the judge. Both the slave boy and the master's son endured traumas when they were children. I interpreted their relationship as being a way they were able to cope and heal themselves. It was a way to survive. But when the slave boy realized he was about to be killed for a rumor, he fled. Switching genders and identities was another way for him to survive. The forced marriage was unexpected but what could he do? However, once his husband understood his predicament, he wanted to help him. He didn't force him to try to live as his wife. His childhood friend also understood the slave boy's predicament, i.e. that his father was trying to kill him. So he tried to help too. This is why I didn't think of it as a BL drama. It was more like a bromance.
