“Spring of Youth” is a 2025 Korean drama series, with 10 episodes, categorized as Coming-of-Age, Music, Idol Drama, Romance, and Comedy (Rom-Com); streaming Only on Viki. SUMMARY: Have we met before or do I just dream about you? It sounds like a really cheesy line that would turn a girl off. It’s worse than asking her if heaven is missing an angel. But it’s actually a genuine question! The guy doesn’t know why he keeps dreaming about this girl. Have they ever met before? How could he know such intimate details about someone he’s never met? (O.o)

I finished all 10 episodes. It’s not bad, but I feel like I’ve seen this type of drama before. The idol-turns-student thing isn’t new, and some scenes were too dramatic for no reason. Still, the music was nice. If you like sweet stories with light conflict, then go ahead.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much, but I ended up liking it more than I thought. I mean, Sa Gye is kind of clueless at first, but you can’t help rooting for him. I liked that he didn’t give up after losing the guitar battle. He made his own band. That’s inspiring. Kim Bom is cool too—so calm but strong. The dream stuff? Still don’t get it, but it gave a mysterious feeling to the show. I watched it while doing homework, and it was perfect for background viewing, lol.

Some of the writing made me cringe. The pickup line? I would block someone for saying that. But I still wanted to know how he knew about her piano. The dream connection made the story feel a little like fantasy, even though it’s a school drama. The characters had potential, especially Kim Bom, but I wish the drama focused more on her than on the two guys fighting over her. Still, the music performances were really good. I don’t think I would rewatch it, but I don’t regret giving it a try either

For me, “Spring of Youth” was like a reminder that we can always begin again. Sa Gye’s fall from fame was painful to watch, but I respected how he handled it. He didn’t just hide—he went to school, faced the public, and used music to find himself again. Kim Bom’s music was beautiful. She was my favorite character. Also, it was nice to see Tae-yang not being a typical “rival” but becoming a team member. That kind of character growth is rare. I think this drama has heart.

Let me be honest. That guitar battle? I laughed. It felt like something out of a video game. And Sa Gye lost but still ends up forming a band with the same guy? Come on, what was the point of the battle then? Still, I watched every episode because I’m weak for awkward love triangles and mysterious dreams. The “I-know-your-piano” stuff made me pause the video a few times. Creepy but interesting. I wouldn’t call this a masterpiece, but I’ve seen worse.

The concept of memory through dreams is not often explored in realistic settings like a campus drama, so I found that part unique. The character dynamics follow familiar tropes—idol escape, love triangle, music competition—but the execution was decent. I think Sa Gye’s development is handled well, especially in how he earns trust rather than demanding it. While the show sometimes leans on cliché, its emotional beats are sincere.

I’ve watched too many idol dramas in my life, and this one didn’t bring anything new to the table. Sure, the dream twist added a little spice, but the pacing dragged and some scenes felt like filler. I guess younger viewers or people new to K-dramas might enjoy the sweet romance and music. I just wanted more depth, especially in Kim Bom’s backstory. She had so much potential. It’s watchable, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.

This was such a sweet drama! The music, the university setting, the romance—it gave me so many emotions. Sa Gye is a great character. He wasn’t perfect, but he tried to be better. Kim Bom was so lovely and her music felt like healing. I didn’t even mind the love triangle because it felt natural, not forced. The dream plot made me believe in fate again. I love shows that make me feel warm inside, and “Spring of Youth” did that.
