Netflix’s Ad Tier Revealed, Isn’t Too Great

Seems every streamer needs a cheaper subscription plan with ads these days, and the OG held out in resistance as long as it could, but Netflix is finally caving. They originally planned to roll out their ad-supported tier sometime next year, but….they’re skipping ahead. Netflix with ads will be available as soon as next month.
As it stands, the cheapest Netflix plan is $9.99 a month. This one reduces the price to $6.99 but throws in a few inconveniences to make sure you’re not too happy. The most obvious of these are the ads, which will appear at a rate of 4 to 5 minutes per hour, on average. And the ads will appear not just before and after the episodes, but during, most assuredly at awkward nonsensical times as much of Netflix’s original library wasn’t designed around ad breaks. As a hypothetical example, Dustin will say “OH SH–” followed by three commercials for insurance companies, then back to Dustin going “–IT!”
The most bizarre setback is the fine print that says “five to 10...

I subscribed to Netflix because I have ads, and they think this crap is a good idea? I heard in a country in Africa the ad tier is free but the ads are ridiculous.

They are already a billion dollar company and they punish their subscribers with bad PR moves like this.
The purpose of Netflix was to avoid commercials and traditional TV. Ads will bring in money for them. Then, it ought to be free for them. receiving payment while recovering their audience. I'm not footing the bill. I don't mind that I've never used Netflix.

About three months ago, I decided to give Netflix a try with my family's subscription. I have them every other weekend and on some other days in between. They watch it when they're here with me and when they're at their mom's. Netflix emailed me after the first weekend I used them to let me know that my account had been accessed from two different locations and to remind me that exchanging passwords is not allowed. I've got a bad taste in my mouth ever since. I know I've been overcharged, but I think they'll start selling it for $6.99 with a promise that they won't raise the price of ads for three months. The reviewer's comments on how happy they are with Amazon make a lot of sense to me. It was inevitable that I would be spending more of my money at Amazon, and I did warn you about that.

and this is why I am subscribed to Amazon Prime and Paramount Plus instead. They are much cheaper and they don't cancel as much shows.

I finally made the leap and cancelled my subscription. Commercials have no place in a subscription service. In my household, we've gone full circle, from cutting the cord to ad-free subscription streaming services and back to the traditional broadcast networks. There's no use in me continuing to throw money away on them.

It's unacceptable that Netflix costs money when you consider all the advertisements. Prime Video-style commercials, if they ever appear at all, only air immediately before the program begins, so viewers don't have to sit through them during the broadcast. But they really should lower the price.

Are they still going to charge with Password sharing? Share my password to my whole family and I will be upset if they start charging for that. They are giving new costumers to their competitors.
