Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

First Trailer Released For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

I don’t know who decided December 1 was going to be a mini D23, but we’re getting new Disney Studio trailers left and right and can barely keep up. The latest, released mere minutes ago, is this never-before-seen first look at Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, the long-anticipated, long-demanded conclusion to the GotG trilogy, as well as probably the last thing James Gunn will do for Marvel.

“We were gone for quite a while,” Peter Quill acknowledges at the start. The Guardians descend onto a planet that looks a lot like Earth, and the first thought is that Quill has returned home — but that’s what Gunn wanted us to think. In reality the planet is populated by bunny-looking aliens who just happen to have the same buildings and cars we do. Also, the Guardians don’t make a very good first impression, thanks to Drax.

Guardians Vol. 3 promises to resolve a lot of the dangling plot threads left by the first two films. The mystery of Rocket Raccoon’s origin, for one. New bad guy Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) is going to keep them busy. And the movie may or may not close the book on Quill and Gamora’s relationship — difficult at the moment, since he would have to court an entirely new Gamora.

If you want more Guardians NOW, you’re in luck: a swell new Holiday Special was just published on Disney+. It’s wonderful and everybody should watch it, including you. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 opens in theaters May 5, 2023.
