Final Fantasy XV Will Release Worldwide Simultaneously

It’s not uncommon for video games to release ahead or behind another region. Sometimes, the games are so large you don’t know why it’s closer together. But now, for the first time ever in franchise history, Final Fantasy XV will have a worldwide simultaneous release.

“Up until now in previous Final Fantasies, we’ve never attempted a complete global worldwide release with them,” Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata told IGN. “It’s always been the export model, where it comes out in Japan first and is then exported to other territories. We’re not doing that this time; we want to go full global release.”

To be fair, this wasn’t an easy thing to do, much adjusting had to be done to their production model:

“We found that we really didn’t have the internal structure which would facilitate doing that. So, we really had to adjust and make sure that ground work was done there internally so we were in a place where we could start doing that.”

He also noted that the game is still on track for next year:

“The full specifications of the game and everything [that] is being constructed is pretty much 80 percent,” he said.

Final Fantasy XV will release on PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.
