Fatal Frame: Maiden of the Black Water is the 5th game in the Fatal Frame series.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of the Black Water was a game from 2014 but it never had a Western release. It is the second Fatal Frame title that never had a Western release. Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is the one not released in the west. Fans have to rely on mods and patches to have it translated into English. The original trilogy and the remake of Fatal Frame 2 are the only ones that got global releases. Even if the game is the last Gen, the graphics will be remastered for Ps5 and Nintendo DS. It will also have an English voice acting option. You don’t need to play the past games of the franchise to enjoy this because it can stand on its own.

English Speaking Fatal Frame fans had been wanting this port for a long time.

The game has three playable characters with their own respective Arcs.

Miu Hinasaki is a 17-year-old Idol who is the daughter of the first game’s protagonist.

Ren Hojo, A 23-year-old writer and he is the first and only male playable character in the franchise.

Yuri Kozukata, A 19-year-old assistant who is the main character of the game.

Unlike other Survival horror games, The Fatal Frame franchise doesn’t rely on violent weapons like guns. Your only Weapon on this game is a Camera Obscura, An old Camera that can catch ghosts. The main enemies in this game are ghosts who are hostile to the living. The camera can catch ghosts and send them back to the afterlife. You can also use it to see the memories of the ghost before they died. It is one of the most underrated horror franchises out there and it is nice that Tecmo finally decided to give this game a Western release with English voice acting.
