The X-Men film universe is in a curious place right now. On one hand, X-Men: Dark Phoenix is coming out in November, and early buzz on it is very positive. Deadpool 2 is coming out in May and is VERY positive so far. Yet, New Mutants got delayed until next year, and now, we’re hearing that multiple solo films featuring X-Men characters being considered, if not going into production soon. One of which is apparently a film about Kitty Pryde.
This is odd because Fox, who owns the X-Men movie rights, is in the process of being bought by Disney. So what’s going on? Well, the Kitty Pryde seems to be going ahead regardless, and the actress who played her in the previous X-Men films, Ellen Page, seems to be up for reprising the role once again. She told Cinema Blend:
“I loved playing Kitty Pryde, and I think one of the things I always felt was I wish I could have done more. My experience in the films wasn’t necessarily that extensive and she is such a great character. I don’t know anything about the movie to be honest with you, but yeah, of course, that’s something I’d love to do, but I don’t know.”
