E3 2013: PlayStation 4 will not have used game restrictions
After weeks of keeping mum about their used game restrictions, Sony has finally given their official stand about it. At the Sony E3 2013 conference, SCEA President and CEO Jack Tretton has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will not restrict used games.
At the briefing, Jack Tretton reassured gamers that their next gen console will not require always online nor will it require players to check in your console or games periodically.
“When gamers buy a disc, they have the right to use that disc. Your games won’t stop working if you don’t check in after 24 hours.”
He also confirmed that players will be able to trade their games at their own discretion. This means that players will be able to sell the game to someone else, lend it to a friend or keep it forever.
This is like a slap to Microsoft‘s face after they have tried and failed to keep consumers happy about their used game policies. The Xbox One will require authentication once every 24 hours and will have used game restrictions.

Except for when it will. Because Sony confirmed that it actually does, just not with their first party games.
