Uncork’d Entertainment touts the CGI in their upcoming fantasy release, Dragon Kingdom, as “from the effects team behind Harry Potter.” However, given its low-budget nature, don’t expect to be blown away by anything you see. Most of the fantasy elements spotted in the trailer below are achieved with practical effects anyway, like makeup on an actor.

Not much can be gathered from either the trailer or the synopsis beyond the cliches they suggest. The main characters are described as “a mighty and courageous legion of warriors,” and little more. Their king has been kidnapped by monsters, and they must aim their bows and swing their swords to get him back! There are also dragons involved at some point.

Dragon Kingdom stars Ross O’Hennessy, Ben Loyd-Holmes, Rebecca Dyson-Smith, Zara Phythian, Jessica-Jane Stafford, Jemma Moore and Mike Mitchell, and was produced by Simon Wells. If you don’t wind up seeing it on SyFy during a weekday afternoon, it will show up on DVD and VOD September 3.

To save their Kingdom from the Dark Lord’s army, a mighty and courageous legion of warriors must travel through the forbidden lands fighting the fearsome fire breathing monsters of The Dark Kingdom, a land that swallows all who enter, in order to rescue their King.

Ross O’Hennessy, Ben Loyd-Holmes, Rebecca Dyson-Smith, Zara Phythian, Jessica-Jane Stafford, Jemma Moore and Mike Mitchell star in a wondrous special-effects showcase that breathes fire and leaves a triumphant impression.
