DOOM: New Video Showcases SnapMap Versatility

Bethesda Softwoorks has released a new video featuring developer commentary for the upcoming DOOM game showcasing one of the title’s most exciting new features, the SnapMap. You can check out the new video in the player below.

DOOM’s new SnapMap allows players to create their own gameplay maps for DOOM. id Software Executive Producer Marty Stratton and Global Content Manager Gary Steinman break down the feature and what it has to offer players. It is a content-creation tool that will work on all the versions the game. Players can even access creations from other gamers in the DOOM community. In the game, they can alter the environment how they see fit. In short, players will be able to create their own vision of DOOM and share it with others.

With the popularity of games such as Minecraft, a community and content-creation tool for the DOOm franchise  is definitely an exciting prospect. It will be interesting to see how far players can go with the level and map creation with the SnapMap feature. In addition, one imagines what bizarre creations players might cook up as well.

Doom is set for a second quarter 2016 release date. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
