Dolph Lundgren To Be Villain On Arrow

Arrow has never been shy about casting well known actors for its show. Having people like Dug Jones, Michael Jai White, Manu Bennett, and more joining the Arrow ranks. But now, at the Television Critics Association, it’s been revealed that Dolph Lundgren, of of Rocky and Expendables fame, will be arriving for Season 5.

He will be playing the villain in the flashback storyline for Season 5, and it’s been confirmed that there will indeed be a big fight scene between Lundgren’s character and Oliver Queen. They even went so far as to note:

“We might have a line taken from Rocky IV.”

The Russian/Bratva storyline will indeed be the final flashback storyline in the Arrow series. The team have been both praised and criticized for the flashbacks, and this year, they want them to be truly tied to what’s happening in the main story.

“What’s nice is Oliver is himself a recruit to the Bratva at the same time in the present day he’s recruiting all these new people. There’s a very organic, natural parallel between the two,” Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim said. “There’s a nice organic parallel with what Oliver is going through in the past as a trainee, and what Oliver’s going through in the present as a trainer.”

We’ll have to see how well it works out when Arrow returns this October 5th.
