Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Will Have More Options For Boss Battles
Many RPG’s emphasize the power of choice in their main characters, allowing you to build them how you please, and reap the rewards of their powers because of that. However, when it comes to action games, those choices may not feel as powerful as when you first made them. In Deus Ex: Human Revolution for example, the boss fights always required physical action, even if you built your character for stealth.
Deus Ex Director Patrick Fortier pointed out to OXM that many fans had problems with this, and that it will be fixed in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided:
“It’s all about supporting all the different play aspects,” says Fortier. “There are ways to stealth them, there are ways to beat them in combat and there are conversations you can have that maybe give you a different means of dealing with the situation altogether.”
Bosses also don’t have to die in fights if players don’t want them to, according to Mankind Divided’s narrative director Mary DeMarle.
“You can also decide to do it lethally or not,” says DeMarle. “For Human Revolution, because of the way we designed it, [the bosses] always died in the cutscenes. You had no choice. But we rectified that in the Missing Link DLC, and we’ve rectified it in this game.”
So if you’re up for a game that truly gives you options on how to play your character, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided might just be for you! The game comes out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.
